Chapter 138: Eye

Li Hu’s phone was off. Ye Mo didn’t know if he had returned from the desert or gone on another mission. Ye Mo called Zhuo Aiguo, but couldn’t reach him either. Luckily, Ye Mo knew where Zhuo Aiguo lived and took a taxi there.

As soon as Ye Mo arrived, Zhuo Aiguo returned his call. Excited to hear from Ye Mo, Zhuo Aiguo explained he was in America with his son and wife, but promised to return tomorrow.

Ye Mo hung up, disappointed. He should have called first. Li Hu could transfer the money, but how would he compensate Zhuo Aiguo’s son without seeing him?

Since Zhuo Aiguo wouldn’t return until tomorrow, Ye Mo found lodging for the night. He then considered visiting Ye Zifeng.

A group of students approached, unnoticed by Ye Mo. He went to a vending machine to buy water, only to discover he had no coins. The machine only accepted coins, so Ye Mo headed to a nearby supermarket.

Suddenly, an arm blocked his path. Ye Mo reacted, grabbing the wrist. Before he applied much force, the owner yelled.

The students surrounded him.

Ye Mo calmed down, realizing the person was a girl. He quickly released her wrist. He recognized her.

“Hey, what the hell? I just wanted to ask you something,” the girl said, tears welling up. She was clearly upset. The male students moved closer, ready to attack if Ye Mo said the wrong thing.

Ye Mo smiled. “You’re asking the wrong person; I just arrived in Beijing.”

The girl rubbed her wrist, then looked at Ye Mo again. “I’ve definitely seen you before. Your eyes are too familiar. Your eyes are very beautiful—it’s definitely you…”

Ye Mo was speechless, as were her friends. She rambled on, but still hadn’t identified him, though she kept mentioning his eyes.

Ye Mo recognized her, however. He hadn't expected to be recognized even while wearing a face mask. This was Qing Er, whom he’d met at Li Kang Hospital. Her grandfather had been poisoned by purple coral; Ye Mo had saved his life three years prior, but hadn't effected a complete cure.

“Yang Qing, are you infatuated? What eyes? Do you think this is a drama?” a girl beside Zhuo Yangqing asked.

Zhuo Yangqing was certain this was the man who had treated her grandfather and accepted $50,000. A year had passed since then; Ye Mo had said her grandfather only had three years to live. She dreamt of seeing him again.

She had visited Ning Hai and Li Kang countless times, getting to know the staff, but couldn't find Ye Mo. He'd worn a mask, so his eyes had become imprinted in her memory. She dreamed of those bright eyes. She was confident she’d recognize them, and she had.

Zhuo Yangqing, flustered, grabbed Ye Mo’s sleeve, fearing he’d disappear. “Tell me, are you the doctor who helped my grandfather at Li Kang Hospital?”

Ye Mo nodded. “Yes. I believe your grandfather is fine?”

Ye Mo was confident in his skills; he doubted anything had happened to the girl's grandfather in less than three years.

“No, no, my grandpa is fine. I’ve been looking for you in Ning Hai countless times, and I actually found you! I’m so happy, so happy…” Zhuo Yangqing’s excitement was overwhelming. Finding Ye Mo meant her grandfather would be saved.

“Then can you let go?” Ye Mo said, speechless.

“Oh, okay, okay…” Zhuo Yangqing, still nervously staring at him, feared he'd disappear.

“Yangqing, do you still want me to go live with you at your third uncle’s house? If not, I’m going back to school with Wang Fei and the others,” a short girl reminded Zhuo Yangqing.

Zhuo Yangqing, calmer now, said, “No need, thank you, Fang Fang. I have things to do.”

“Okay, let’s go.” The students looked at Ye Mo and bid Yangqing farewell.

Ye Mo knew she wanted him to treat her grandfather. He was now at Chi Gathering Stage 3, making it easy to cure him.

“Hello, Doctor, I’m Zhuo Yangqing. You should know why I wanted to find you so desperately. After you treated my grandfather, he’s been very healthy. My whole family has been looking for you, but we couldn’t find you. Now that I’ve met you, this is really luck amongst luck.” Though calmer, she was still excited.

Ye Mo estimated the time to be 6–7 p.m. He lacked medical equipment, intending to buy it after receiving money from Li Hu, but he couldn't reach him.

Seeing Ye Mo silent, Zhuo Yangqing worriedly said, “Doctor, this time, my aunts are all at home, so you can have as much money as you want, as long as you cure my grandfather.”

In Zhuo Yangqing’s eyes, Ye Mo was a doctor who only cared about money—lacking medical ethics; he would treat anyone for a price.

Ye Mo smiled, not arguing. He'd demanded money before because he needed it for cultivation. Now, he wasn't as worried, but payment for treatment was natural. If he helped, he'd charge.

“Okay, give me your number. After I’m done with my errands tomorrow, I’ll call you. I’m busy today.” Ye Mo planned to visit Ye Zifeng; Wang Ying had helped him greatly at school, probably due to Ye Zifeng.

Ye Zifeng was the only member of the Ye family who didn't hate him.

“Huh, what if you disappear again? Then I’d regret it my whole life. I don’t know what your name is,” Zhuo Yangqing said instinctively.

Ye Mo frowned. “I’m busy now. Are you going to follow me?”

Zhuo Yangqing fearfully looked at him, scared he'd leave. Seeing him turn to go, she quickly said, “Didn’t you say you just got to Beijing? I’m familiar with the place, so I can take you wherever you want to go.” Then, she added, “Yes, I’ll be your guide.”

Ye Mo, unfamiliar with Beijing, didn't know the Ye family’s location. Her suggestion was good.

He nodded. “Okay, do you know how to get to the Ye family? I’m looking for Ye Zifeng. If you don’t know, don’t worry.”

“Ye Zifeng? I’ve heard of him, but I only know where his sister is,” Zhuo Yangqing said immediately.

Ye Zifeng’s sister was Ye Ling. She was also his sister. Though her attitude was poor, Wang Ying had helped him because of her. Finding Ye Ling might lead him to Ye Zifeng.

He didn't know why he’d been kicked out of the Ye family, but if Ye Zifeng could be framed, so could he. If Ye Zifeng needed help, Ye Mo could take him to Luo Cang to study medicine.

“You know Ye Ling?” Ye Mo casually asked.

Zhuo Yangqing said, “You know her name, so you really know her. Ye Ling is our university’s school queen. Of course I know her.” She didn’t mention her own higher ranking.

Ye Mo nodded. “Okay, then take me to your university and find Ye Ling.” He hoped to find Ye Zifeng through her.

Zhuo Yangqing agreed. “Okay, let’s go. I’ll take you to her. By the way, I don’t know your name yet.”

“I’m Ye Mo,” Ye Mo said. He noticed Zhuo Yangqing staring at him intently, then his lower body.

Ye Mo touched his nose, speechless. Her cute, innocent image was gone. Today’s girls were bold.

Zhuo Yangqing had heard Ye Mo was impotent, but few knew that since returning from the desert, this was no longer true. Reaching Stage 3 had cleared his meridians; he was now strong.

Zhuo Yangqing, seeming to realize her impoliteness, looked up, blushing.
