Chapter 140: I Am Ye Mo

“You… you took so much of my money and made me do so much for you! How dare you lie to me?! Gu Luo, you animal!” Ye Ling’s face was pale with anger. She realized how immature she had been. She’d wanted to secretly save her brothers, but things had spiraled out of control.
She’d pretended her relationship with her brothers was terrible, even to the point of not speaking to them. She feared her uncles would discover she favored her brothers, preventing her from entering the Ye Family home. If that happened, her siblings would become irrelevant and disappear from the Ye Family.
She hadn’t dared mention Ye Mo to her grandfather or help him in any way, understanding that while her grandfather liked her, it was because he liked her father. Her grandfather hated women discussing family matters. Her second mother had been forced into distant business by her grandfather for her involvement in her uncle’s affairs, even changing her surname to her grandmother's. Afterward, no Ye Family woman dared discuss family matters, let alone let her grandfather know.
She didn’t know that, with her grandfather’s permission, her brother Ye Zifeng could attend family meetings.
Gu Luo had been introduced by Ye Lu, a Ye Family member, so Ye Ling had thought he wouldn’t harm her. She hadn’t expected Ye Lu to harm her and the Ye Family. She didn’t understand why he’d done it. Wasn't he afraid of the family law?
Thinking of the family law, Ye Ling shivered. She knew her actions were as bad as, or worse than, Ye Lu’s. Stealing the Feng Shui Dragon Balls alone would send her to hell if her grandfather found out. Ye Lu must have been blackmailed by Song Shaochen, just as she had been. She’d been willing; she didn’t know if Ye Lu had been.
“Yes, you collected information about the Ye Family and gave it to me. You even stole two Feng Shui Dragon Balls. The Song Family should thank you. That old man really trusts you. Even Ye Lu couldn’t enter the main house, but you can,” Song Shaochen said sarcastically.
Looking at Ye Ling’s pale face, Song Shaochen said slowly, “Bring me the Jade Buddha, and spend one night with me, and I’ll pretend nothing happened and won’t harm Ye Zifeng. If you refuse, we have many brothers here. I don’t think you can handle it alone, hehehe…
Even if you serve us, stealing the Feng Shui Dragon Balls will reach Ye Beirong’s ears.”
Ye Ling trembled with anger. She finally understood her stupidity. She’d paid a high price for Gu Luo to secretly protect Ye Mo and Ye Zifeng, even searching for news of the Song Family’s plans against Ye Mo. Now, it seemed like a joke. She’d been lucky they hadn’t been harmed, let alone protected. She’d learned a lot, but too late.
“Let me go, and I’ll steal the Jade Buddha,” Ye Ling said, regaining her composure. Though her body trembled, she appeared calm.
“Hahaha…” Song Shaochen laughed hysterically. “Do you think I’m as stupid as you? Of course, I’ll let you go, but we’ll record this first. Then you can leave. Don’t worry, we won’t touch Ye Mo. Only Ye Zifeng. Cooperate, and we might not touch him.”
“Hmph, rip off her clothes…” Song Shaochen feared those who said Ye Mo could kill him. Many knew Song Shaowen and Song Shaotan had died by Ye Mo’s hand.
Plus, the family meeting and the leader’s order stated no one should trouble Ye Mo. Though Song Shaochen didn’t know what had happened, he knew if Ye Mo killed him, he’d die in vain. His life in the Song Family was worth less than 1% of Song Shaotan’s, let alone Song Shaowen’s. The leader had let Ye Mo go after killing them, let alone him.
“Who dares to touch her?!” A cold voice echoed. No one saw the door unlock.
Ye Ling reacted first, not Song Shaochen and his men. She saw the young man at the door and was shocked. Though Ye Mo had changed, she recognized him.
“Ye Mo…” Ye Ling whispered, shocked.
Ye Mo nodded. “Ye Ling. It was hard on you. You’re right, if I killed Song Shaowen, I can kill Song Shaochen. Oh, you probably don’t know I also killed Song Shaotan.”
“You really are Ye Mo?” In Ye Ling’s memory, Ye Mo was a useless, pretentious rich second generation.
She treated Ye Mo the same as Ye Zifeng because of her father’s dying words: “Ling Er, Ye Mo isn’t welcomed, and he doesn’t like studying. You and Zifeng need to watch out for him. Don’t let him be bullied. I’m guilty to him and his mother, don’t let me die in unrest.”
Ye Ling remembered crying as she agreed. Then, her father died.
Because of Ye Mo, she suffered. After her father’s death, he spent money lavishly—money she’d saved for him. He’d stayed at Ning Hai University because of her countless pleas. Even when he was kicked out of the Ye Family, her uncle attacked him. So she befriended her uncle while distancing herself from Ye Mo and Ye Zifeng. Ye Mo wasn’t close to her, but she distanced herself from Ye Zifeng.
That way, if her uncle attacked them, he might hesitate or she might get news. She’d also befriended Ye Lu and, through him, Gu Luo. Gu Luo claimed connections in Ning Hai, so she paid him to protect Ye Mo, fearing her uncles would attack him.
Though she knew little, she’d heard her grandfather say, drunk, that her father would be the next family leader and inherit the assets. Then her father’s health worsened, and her grandfather stopped mentioning it.
Ye Ling suspected her father’s death was related to her uncle, but she dared not speak, only protecting her brothers. She tried not to take family money and repeatedly warned her brother not to, to avoid her uncle’s wrath.
Seeing Ye Mo, she felt wronged. Ye Zifeng and Ye Mo were her older brothers, yet she, the youngest, had to do this. And Ye Mo lived a secret life.
“I am Ye Mo.” Seeing Ye Ling’s red eyes, Ye Mo simply stated his name and stared coldly at Song Shaochen.
“You are Ye Mo…” Song Shaochen said slowly.
Gu Luo stood beside him. Normally, they’d attack intruders, but they’d heard of Ye Mo. It was said Hu Qiu had died by his hand. Gu Luo was good, but not as good as Hu Qiu.
The two men beside Gu Luo tried to abduct Ye Ling. She stared at Ye Mo, disbelieving his change. This Ye Mo was different from the one in her memories.
The Ye Mo in her memory had annoyed and disgusted her. But this Ye Mo exuded confidence. His presence made him the only person who mattered. And Song Shaochen fell silent, worried.
Ye Ling felt safe. This Ye Mo was her real brother. She subconsciously wanted to approach him when two icy blasts hit her. She saw the two men behind her fall, blood seeping from their foreheads.
She’d thought herself brave, but seeing the men fall, she wanted to scream and run into Ye Mo’s arms.
Ye Mo patted the trembling Ye Ling and sighed. Life had been hard on her. She’d been terrified but still faced people like Gu Luo. Regardless of her deals, she’d eventually die.
Even if Gu Luo wasn’t Song Shaochen’s man, he would kill Ye Ling to keep her quiet and prevent Ye Family revenge. If the Ye Family learned of Ye Ling’s actions, she’d die.
“Ye-Ye Mo… I know you’re powerful. Let me go… I’ll return the Dragon Balls and everything…” Song Shaochen reminded himself that Ye Mo couldn’t kill him yet, that he needed to stay calm. But his voice trembled.
