Chapter 15: Sent to the Police Station

Translator: Tim; Editor: Tehrn/Carolin

Before reaching their destination, Ye Mo subdued the thugs after one of them attacked him. The Range Rover contained only five people, including the driver, none of whom could withstand Ye Mo's assault. Within moments, all but the driver were at Ye Mo's feet with broken limbs; the driver received only two slaps.

Ye Mo avoided killing them, unsure if he could control himself otherwise.

He wondered how the police arrived so quickly, as he'd prevented the thugs from using their phones. He doubted Zheng Wenqiao had called, fueling his unease. However, someone provided the police with precise details, leading to a swift interception of the Range Rover.

Stepping from the vehicle, Ye Mo looked at the groaning thugs and coldly stated, "Tell Zheng Wenqiao I'll be finding him."

Two officers approached. A dark-faced, middle-aged officer, his expression impatient, asked, "Wasn't it you who called the police?"

Ye Mo pointed at the thugs. "I didn't, but they kidnapped me. I resisted, resulting in this. A good Samaritan likely called the police."

The driver, the only one mobile, immediately addressed the dark-faced officer, whom he seemed to know, as if he were his father. He pointed at Ye Mo, exclaiming, "Yu brother, this guy forced his way into my car, forcing me to drive to the countryside while beating us!"

The officer nodded at the driver, revealing a pre-existing relationship. Ye Mo sneered internally, sensing collusion.

His suspicion was confirmed when the officer coldly looked at Ye Mo, then asked the driver, "He forced his way in and beat you? Was he attempting a daylight robbery?"

The driver, dishevelled from Ye Mo's slaps, readily obliged, "Yes! He wanted to steal the car and beat us. He would have thrown us out and driven off!"

Ye Mo remained silent, suppressing the urge to kill the thugs and escape. He knew his current abilities wouldn't allow him to evade the authorities. He was, however, irritated by the anonymous police call.

The officer, hand near his weapon, declared, "You're suspected of attempted robbery and assault. Come with us." The younger officer frowned but remained silent. Ye Mo, unwilling to flee, complied. However, he vowed that any future illegal attack would result in immediate escape. He planned to retrieve the silver heart grass and seek revenge.

Watching through binoculars, Su Jingwen found the situation peculiar. The police arrested the seemingly innocent student, while the thugs drove away. This discrepancy was unsettling. Her call had clearly reported an abduction attempt, yet the outcome was drastically different.

She then recalled seeing the student—the same one who sold her charms. Despite his disguise (shades and a duckbill hat), his build was similar. She decided to investigate further.

Back at the station, the dark-faced officer signaled to his colleagues, saying, "Let him rest; we'll file charges later."

Ye Mo, understanding the officer's bias, was unsurprised to find himself not in a restroom, but in a crowded temporary holding cell with several hardened criminals. He deduced that this was a temporary holding area before formal incarceration and realized the officer intended to have him beaten up.

The four tattooed men initially observed Ye Mo intently, but soon returned to their conversation. Ye Mo noticed their leader, a man with a chin scar, giving subtle instructions.

Ignoring them, Ye Mo focused on escape routes. However, his keen hearing picked up a conversation.

A shorter man suggested beating Ye Mo, but the scarred leader warned against it. "This guy's not simple. We're nearly released; no need for trouble. They want us to beat him, but I won't. He was fearless, cold-eyed. He's strong; don't mess with him!"

Ye Mo surveyed the cell. Escape seemed trivial. Relaxed, he sought a place to rest. The cleanest spot was next to the window, occupied by the scarred man.

Approaching him, Ye Mo declared, "Move. I'm sleeping."

The scarred man, incredulous, asked, "What did you say?"

Ye Mo's voice hardened. "I said move. I'm sleeping. Don't you understand?"
