Chapter 224: Discovering the Evil Plan

Tang Beiwei pouted, sitting on the ground. She ignored her appearance and remained silent, her initial good impression of Ye Mo shattered. His barbaric treatment—carrying her by the neck, regardless of her gender—angered her. She wasn't surprised someone was targeting him; he had it coming.
Ye Mo sneered. He hadn't used forceful interrogation only because of her bracelet.
"I don't know why you have my sister's number or why you approached me," he said, his voice growing colder. "But I won't let anyone hurt her. Your acting was convincing; you even fooled me. I'll give you one more minute. If you don't talk, don't blame me for using force."
Tang Beiwei looked up, surprised. "Who is your sister? When did I meet her?"
Just as Ye Mo was about to explode, he saw that Tang Beiwei didn't seem to be lying. He sneered. "The 'Ye Mo's girlfriend' listed on your phone is my sister. You not only saved her number but also tried to get close to me. What were you planning?"
Caught off guard, Tang Beiwei instinctively reached for the blanket to cover herself. She frowned, silent.
Ye Mo glared. Any further tricks, and he would resort to force.
Tang Beiwei didn't understand why Wei Yongqian had claimed Ye Mo's sister was his girlfriend. Regardless, she knew Wei Yongqian had been lying to her from the start.
Deciding to confess, she looked up to see Ye Mo's intense gaze. She instinctively covered her chest.
Ye Mo sneered. "Don't worry, I'm not interested in you. No need to act."
Tang Beiwei's face paled, but she didn't respond. Rubbing her eyes, she began, "A few days ago, a man named Wei Yongqian told me you stole someone's girlfriend, and that person wanted revenge. He told me to get close to you—even if I couldn't become your girlfriend, I had to get close and…."
"Sleep with me, right? You weren't shy before," Ye Mo sneered.
Tang Beiwei bit her lip until it bled, oblivious to the injury. "Yes. Then I was to take you somewhere, and they would bring your girlfriend. She would call me, I'd tell her the location, she'd see us together, and then I'd... be intimate with other men in front of you to..."
"Kill me?" Ye Mo's voice was icy, making Tang Beiwei shiver.
Tang Beiwei quickly shook her head. "No, they said they'd just beat you up, injure you. They wanted to make you despair, to make your girlfriend despair…"
Even as she spoke, Tang Beiwei doubted Wei Yongqian's words. He'd lied before; could she trust him now?
"Hmph…" Ye Mo was certain they wanted more than just his life—they wanted Ye Ling's too. Perhaps they would rape her in front of him. He sneered. "I wonder how much your virginity was sold for? Or maybe it wasn't your first time. Who knows how many times you've been sold?"
Ye Ling's life was at stake, so Ye Mo spoke harsher than ever to a woman.
Tang Beiwei spat out blood. Her face was ashen, but she bit her lip, refusing to speak. She had already deceived him; he could do as he pleased. She blamed herself for her harsh life, her lack of parents, her vulnerability. She had sacrificed her most precious possession; wasn't that enough?
Seeing the blood, Ye Mo barely registered her presence. Pitiful, yes, but also despicable.
He called Ye Ling.
"Brother, why did you call? I couldn't reach you," Ye Ling's voice was a relief.
"I'll be home soon. Has anyone called you lately, asking you to meet them?" Ye Mo asked.
"No. What's wrong?" Ye Ling replied quickly.
"Good. If I need you, I'll call. Don't believe anyone else. My phone will be on; call me immediately if anything happens," Ye Mo warned.
Ye Ling, aware of Ye Mo's secretive nature, worried. "I understand. Are you alright, brother?"
"I'm fine. I need to ask about the bracelet you gave me."
Ye Ling hesitated. "Second Brother gave it to you, saying it belonged to Mom. I don't know much about it."
Disappointed but not surprised, Ye Mo hung up. He didn't particularly care about the bracelet, but seeing a similar one had triggered his memories.
He looked at Tang Beiwei's blood and pale face. Had he been too harsh?
"Draw the location Wei Yongqian told you to bring me to," he said, offering pen and paper.
Tang Beiwei remained motionless.
Ye Mo sneered. "Even if you don't say, it's likely a remote location, right? To kill us both? You're clever, but do you think they'll let you go after killing us? You're naive. I don't know what they promised you, but stop dreaming."
Tang Beiwei's eyes flickered. She looked up, numbly saying, "I never wanted to kill you or your sister. They just wanted revenge…." A sneer played on her lips. It was a law-abiding society; could they kill so easily?
Ye Mo wondered who wanted him dead: the Song family, or someone else? Did they have the guts? He sneered. He wouldn't be harmed if he killed the snake. Regardless of who it was, he needed to go to Beijing and end this. He wasn't afraid, but what about the people he cared about?
Why choose Tang Beiwei? He studied her face. Though swollen, she possessed a natural beauty similar to Su Jingwen's, even without makeup.
He looked away. These people were truly sinister. He didn't know where they found her, but since Ye Ling was safe and he'd uncovered the plot, his anger subsided.
He stood, addressing Tang Beiwei. "Whether you believe it or not, they tried to kill me, so you owe me. If you have a conscience, tell me: what did they promise you? And where did your bracelet come from?"
Tang Beiwei believed him; they truly wanted to kill him. Despite his harsh words, she found Ye Mo more trustworthy than Wei Yongqian, perhaps because of his love for his sister. When would she ever have a brother who cared so much? Her sister was fortunate. She, a wild child, was cared for by only her mother; everyone else had ulterior motives—lust or sinister plans. Tears welled up.
She'd vowed not to cry before this cruel man, but sadness overwhelmed her.
Ye Mo didn't pressure her, merely waiting. Though he knew she'd been tricked, he felt no sympathy.
"My mother needs surgery, but I can't afford it," Tang Beiwei said, her voice trailing off.
Ye Mo, regretting his harshness, understood. He should forgive a girl who sold herself for her mother.
His tone softened. "Tell me about the bracelet. My words were harsh; I'm sorry. But you're old enough to know better than to be tricked so easily. Seeing your desperation, I won't hold it against you."
