Chapter 225: Crying Out Loud

Tang Beiwei looked up at Ye Mo in shock, astonished by his calm demeanor. Since discovering her deception, his tone had grown increasingly colder. This was the first time he'd spoken to her with such harshness. Feeling wronged and on the verge of tears, she fought back the urge to cry in front of a stranger again.

Seeing Tang Beiwei's distress intensify, Ye Mo frowned but remained silent, waiting. Although he wanted to leave, she hadn't yet explained the bracelet, and he couldn't bring himself to depart so abruptly.

After a long pause, Tang Beiwei composed herself. "My mother gave me this bracelet when she was very ill," she said. "She told me I wasn't her biological daughter; that I was found at a temple twenty years ago. She said I was one of two children left there. Another couple adopted a child. We were supposed to use these bracelets to find each other, so…"

Ye Mo was stunned. If Tang Beiwei's story was true, wouldn't the other child be him? Had he, too, been abandoned at that temple? The Ye family's DNA test…was it real? His face paled. Tang Beiwei was his sister; Ye Ling wasn't.

He'd just made her spit blood. Even though his soul wasn't the original Ye Mo, he couldn't escape the guilt.

Tang Beiwei avoided his gaze. "Ye Mo, I intended to harm you, but I never had the chance. Since you don't want me, if you'd like the bracelet, take it. Consider it compensation. Mother is the only family I had. Now that she's gone…there's no reason for me to keep it…" Her voice trailed off, nearly inaudible.

For the first time since beginning his cultivation, Ye Mo felt genuine regret. His anger, fueled by Ye Ling's involvement, had made his words harsh.

While not entirely certain of their sibling relationship, Ye Mo deeply regretted his cruelty.

Tang Beiwei remained despondent, failing to notice Ye Mo's movement until she subconsciously looked up. His face was as pale as hers.

"Ye…" she began, momentarily forgetting her predicament and his earlier rudeness.

Ye Mo sighed, staring at her for a long time. Unable to bear his gaze, she looked down. She didn't know what he would do, and at that point, she didn't care.

He sat down, gently placing a jacket around her shoulders and pulling her close. Tang Beiwei was shocked. Something was clearly wrong with Ye Mo.

"I'm sorry, Beiwei. My words were too harsh. I apologize," he said, feeling a growing unease at the harshness of her life. A cold fury began to build within him; whoever had wronged her would pay.

A sudden chill ran through him. Did that person know they were siblings? If so, that person was terrifyingly cruel.

Thankfully, Ye Mo had his principles, and the love for Luo Ying and Ning Qingxue anchored him. He dared not imagine the consequences otherwise.

His eyes grew colder. Such malevolence! He wouldn't rest until that person was dead. The world harbored such monsters.

Tang Beiwei was surprised by his second apology. This time, she felt its sincerity. And the use of her nickname, Beiwei, was a subtle shift.

Resting in his arms, she felt a longing for this protection, a desire to escape the constant bullying.

Just then, she felt a wave of icy killing intent emanating from Ye Mo, causing her to recoil.

Seeing her terror, he realized he'd revealed his intent. He withdrew it, producing a medicinal pill. "Beiwei, take this. It will help strengthen your body."

Surprised, she hesitated briefly before swallowing the pill. If he meant her harm, she would accept her fate.

He then used needles to unblock her meridians, blocked by her grief, and infused her with spiritual energy. Two hours later, sweat beaded on his forehead as he removed the needles.

Tang Beiwei felt a surge of renewed energy, her depression lifting, replaced by a lightness and comfort. She saw impurities expelled from her pores and a dawning realization settled upon her. She looked at Ye Mo, pale and exhausted, understanding he'd expended great effort on her behalf.

He opened his eyes. "Go take a shower. We'll talk later."

Though confused, she quickly showered.

Ye Mo had never expended this much energy for anyone, not even Ning Qingxue. He felt he owed Tang Beiwei.

He checked his ring; he barely had tens of dollars left. He couldn't avoid borrowing money. He wouldn't ask Ye Ling; she was broke too.

Tang Beiwei showered for nearly an hour. She emerged in Ye Mo's shirt, transformed. The cleansing had imbued her with an indescribable nobility.

Looking in the mirror, she was shocked. Whatever Ye Mo had done was extraordinary, and he clearly wasn't an ordinary man.

Ye Mo looked at her with satisfaction. Except for the lingering sorrow, she was different.

"What did you want to talk about?" Tang Beiwei regained her composure, burying her sorrow. She decided to return to Tan Du immediately. If her mother couldn't be cured, she would take her home. She'd done all she could. Rather than face constant harassment, she would return to her mother.

Ye Mo produced a bracelet. "I suspect we're siblings. I have one too."

Tang Beiwei trembled, snatching the bracelet and comparing it to hers. They were a pair.

Her face drained of color. Her hands, her whole body shook. The person who'd tormented her was likely her brother. Before knowing his identity, she could endure; now, she was on the verge of collapse.

She'd longed for a loving brother, but this reality was unbearable.

Her face grew paler, and she smashed the bracelet against Ye Mo, fleeing without a word.

Despair flashed in Ye Mo's eyes. From a soul perspective, they had no connection, yet this blood tie couldn't be severed.

He followed, knowing she needed to release her emotions. He didn't try to stop her; time would heal.

Tang Beiwei's mind was a whirlwind. Ye Mo was her brother. She'd rather never have found him.

She'd almost done something unforgivable. If Ye Mo hadn't been disinterested, the consequences were unimaginable.

She ran, hating him. Why hadn't he shown the bracelet sooner? Why did it have to be him?

She ran tirelessly, as if something ahead would set her free. She wasn't thinking.

Ye Mo followed, worried. He knew she needed to vent her feelings. Once she calmed down, she'd accept things.

He saw her enter a glass elevator. As he approached, it began to ascend.

The numb look in her eyes chilled him. Was she going to jump? He regretted letting her run.

The elevator shrank, and Ye Mo nervously scanned her with his spiritual sense. The building was only seventy meters tall, within his range.

He debated intervening, but then she opened the window on the top floor and jumped.

Relief washed over him as he jumped after her, using spiritual energy to cushion her fall before catching her just before impact. Before anyone could react, he was gone.

The moment she jumped, she felt a sense of release. It was over.

She awoke in Ye Mo's arms, startled. Had he jumped too?

"Beiwei, you're so foolish! Why did you jump? If I hadn't caught you…" His voice was tinged with sadness. He didn't know who was right or wrong.

Finally understanding, the depression lifted. The pent-up hurt overwhelmed her, and she clung to him, crying.
