Chapter 250: Jing Xi's Killing Blow

After a long while, Ye Mo pulled away from Luo Ying. Luo Ying didn't dare meet his gaze, burying her face in his chest as if their intimacy were irrelevant. However, her body remained warm and soft, her breathing quickened. Ye Mo glanced at the incense burner in the corner; the incense was extinguished. He then used his chi to dispel the incense's lingering effects from Luo Ying's body. Her breathing slowed, but she clung to him tighter.
Gently easing her away, Ye Mo smiled. "Susu, I believe the incense you lit was problematic. It seems to be an aphrodisiac."
Luo Ying looked up, a sweet smile gracing her lips. "Mhm, I realized that afterward. The scent was different from the serene incense I usually use. I don't know who changed it."
She'd noticed something was wrong after feeling her desires surge. While she longed to see Ye Mo, this intense reaction was unexpected upon their reunion.
Ye Mo felt a moment of disorientation, but quickly recovered. "Luckily, I recognized it and knew how to counteract it, otherwise…"
Luo Ying lay in his arms, her soft voice ethereal.
"It was probably Jing Xi. She wants to punish me for disobeying sect rules and expel me. But I've longed to be with you, so her expulsion doesn't matter."
"But…" Ye Mo began, but Luo Ying's pearly white hand covered his lips. "Don't talk. I was willing. If I hadn't wanted to, even that incense couldn't have changed my mind…"
"Susu, I'll save that for our wedding night…" Ye Mo's elation was palpable.
"Mhm…" Luo Ying murmured, then after a pause, said, "Dumby, you always call me 'master,' and it's too late to change now. I've dreamt of you, as if I knew you in a past life. Did you dream of me, too?"
Ye Mo was momentarily stunned. He hadn't expected Luo Ying to remember not only his name but also his appearance.
"Why aren't you talking?" Luo Ying's voice was soft as a cloud.
"Mhm, I remember you, too. You were my master, Luo Ying. Long ago, I called you 'master,' and you called me 'Mo Er.' Afterward…" Ye Mo trailed off, lost in thought. He awoke to find Luo Ying asleep.
He caressed her hair, murmuring, "Master, you protected me for a lifetime. Now, let me protect you in this life."
He carefully removed the remaining jade pendant from her necklace, examining it. He hadn't expected the magical artifact he'd crafted to be in Luo Ying's possession, protecting her. He replaced it with a necklace fashioned from the black jade he'd used previously, then embraced her and fell asleep.
The dawn mist illuminated the room. Luo Ying opened her eyes, gazing at Ye Mo in her arms. Her heart was calm. If she couldn't cultivate, so be it.
"You're awake?" Ye Mo saw her awaken, thinking he was dreaming. The Luo Ying he'd yearned for was finally in his arms. He feared it was a dream, but the sunlight confirmed its reality. He wouldn't miss this opportunity again.
"Mhm. I need to bathe and change," Luo Ying said, rising.
Ye Mo remained stunned. Last night, he hadn't fully noticed, but now he saw Luo Ying's breathtaking beauty.
Luo Ying saw his dumbfounded expression and smiled. Before she could speak, Jing Xi's cold voice cut through the air from the doorway. "What, weren't you satisfied last night? Ye Mo, come out. I need to speak with Susu."
Ye Mo opened the door, his gaze cold. "Go away. Susu doesn't wish to speak with you. You have no right."
Jing Xi's face turned green. She glared at Ye Mo, then addressed Luo Ying. "Susu, I need to speak with you."
Luo Ying rose calmly, standing beside Ye Mo. "Let her in, then wait for me outside. Don't worry, I will listen. After today, I'll leave with you."
Ye Mo distrusted Jing Xi, but he relented at Luo Ying's words, allowing Jing Xi inside while he waited restlessly outside. He suspected Jing Xi's intentions were not pure, but he couldn't fathom her reason for speaking with Luo Ying.
Jing Xi closed the door, her eyes subconsciously drawn to the incense burner. The incense was burnt. A smirk touched her lips.
"He actually gave you a beauty pill?" Jing Xi entered and immediately noted the change in Luo Ying's appearance. Jealousy burned within her. Luo Ying subconsciously echoed, "That was a beauty pill?"
"Susu, last night must have been… enjoyable. A beauty pill and a man's companionship… far better than adhering to sect rules," Jing Xi said, masking her jealousy with ridicule.
Susu smiled serenely. "Yes, Shi Shu Jing Xi. While I don't know why you target my master and me, I'm no longer the Susu of before. Don't waste your time. I'm leaving with Ye Mo. Say what you will."
Jealousy flickered in Jing Xi's eyes. "Didn't you see how Ye Mo treated me yesterday?"
"I trust him. If Shi Shu intends to speak of this, it's unnecessary. If you have nothing else to say, I'll find Ye Mo." Luo Ying remained calm as a still lake.
Jing Xi felt a surge of annoyance. Her attempts to upset Luo Ying and Ye Mo had made her appear foolish. Luo Ying seemed completely unaffected.
"Did you know Ye Mo is facing the Sea of Fire today? Do you think he'll survive?" Jing Xi's tone dripped with mockery, hoping to see Susu beg again.
Luo Ying replied calmly, "I know. If he doesn't return, I'll join him. Shi Shu, if you have nothing further to say, please leave."
"You…" Jing Xi trembled with rage. Luo Ying's lack of pleading was unexpected.
Luo Ying calmly met Jing Xi's gaze, silent. She knew Jing Xi sought to break her spirit. After last night's conversation with Ye Mo, she no longer desired to remain.
"But did you know you and Ye Mo are siblings?" Jing Xi's voice was chilling.
Luo Ying stumbled, her face paling. "What are you talking about…"
Jing Xi's delight at Luo Ying's reaction was evident in her laughter. "You think I'm lying? Over twenty years ago, your mother abandoned you and your brother at Luo Hong Temple. You were taken in by Ning Zhongfei and Lan Yu, while Ye Mo was taken by Yen Wentian and his wife. Five years later, your mother attempted to bring you to Serenity. She thought I didn't know, but I saw everything. It was because she stole my man that I hate her eternally. You are just like your mother, a filthy bitch. You won't even let your brother go. Hahahaha…"
Luo Ying spat blood and collapsed.
Ye Mo heard Jing Xi's hysterical laughter and charged in, his soul nearly leaving his body at the sight of Luo Ying. He quickly helped her up. "Susu, what happened?" He channeled his chi to soothe her chaotic energy.
"Jing Xi, you bitch, what did you do to Susu?" Ye Mo unleashed his chi in a furious punch.
Jing Xi was unprepared for his sudden attack. She defended, but the punch, fueled by rage, landed with considerable force.
Thud! Jing Xi crashed against the wall, coughing up blood. She glared at Ye Mo but didn't retaliate, turning to leave.
Ye Mo wanted to pursue her but Susu stopped him. "Don't chase her. You're no match for her now. Remember, if one day you can defeat her, help me kill her."
Ye Mo froze. He intended to kill Jing Xi, but he'd never heard Susu express a desire for another's death.
"Mo Er, I'll still call you that," Luo Ying said, her face pale despite Ye Mo's treatment.
"I want to ask you something. Is your father Ye Wentian?" Hope flickered in her eyes.
Ye Mo nodded. "Yes, but I'm probably not of the Ye family. My surname is Ye, but I'm not from the Beijing Ye family." He added this because he'd had the same surname in his past life.
Luo Ying's face worsened. She gasped, "Do you know where you came from?"
Ye Mo looked at her curiously and shook his head. "I don't know. I was found on the streets."
"Where?" Luo Ying's worry was evident.
"Luo Hong Temple. I have a sister. What's wrong, Susu…" Before Ye Mo finished, Luo Ying spat blood again.
Ye Mo quickly administered a Lotus Life Pill and used his chi to stabilize her.
