Chapter 251: Insane Killing Intent
Luo Ying calmed herself, gently patting Ye Mo’s hair. "I'm fine," she said. "It'll just be hard on you. You need to take care of yourself."
Ye Mo, misunderstanding her words, pulled her into his arms. Luo Ying froze but didn't resist.
After a while, she pushed him away, studying his face until he felt awkward. "Mo Er," she said, "go outside and wait for me. I need to clean myself."
"Okay, I'll be outside." Though Ye Mo didn't know what Jing Xi had said to Luo Ying, he wouldn't let Jing Xi go unpunished. He would feud with Serenity if necessary; he would finish off that wretched nun.
Stepping outside, he encountered the dark-faced nun, who sneered. "Such a cocky young man," she spat. "You dare be arrogant in Serenity?"
She drew her horsetail whisk, poised to attack. Her power was weaker than Lone Wolf's; Ye Mo wouldn't fear her. But before they clashed, Jing Xian intervened, addressing the nun: "Jing Wen shi mei, I need to speak with Ye shi zhu."
TL note: shi zhu: a term nuns and monks use for people outside their religion. It essentially means "patron."
The dark-faced nun, unwilling to disobey Jing Xian, quickly replied, "Yes, Leader shi jie."
Ye Mo, favorably impressed by Jing Xian, thanked her.
Jing Xian led him to the room Jing Xi had used yesterday. He felt a sense of foreboding; was this nun planning something similar?
His fears proved unfounded. Jing Xian produced a bag. "This was left by Susu's master," she explained. "Give it to her when you take her away. Susu is kind; don't let her be mistreated. I failed to protect her adequately after her master left her in my care."
Pausing, she added, "Ye shi zhu, don't go near the sea of fire today. No one can survive it. I will speak with Jing Xi shi mei."
He took the bag, puzzled why she didn't give it to Luo Ying directly. He replied, "Thank you, Jing Xian qian bei. Rest assured, I won't let Susu suffer. I'll endure anything to protect her."
"Hmph, a bold statement," Jing Xi sneered, appearing in the doorway.
Ye Mo leaped up, his eyes icy. If not for Jing Xian's presence, he would have killed the nun.
Jing Xi stared coldly at him. "You needn't wait for Susu. She's left Serenity. You'll never find her. Hahaha! No matter how sweetly she speaks, she's lying to you, hahaha…"
"What?" Ye Mo sprinted to Luo Ying's room. It was empty except for the bamboo mat, a letter, and a small pouch.
He tore open the letter. Its brief contents were soaked with tears: "Mo Er, I'm leaving. Don't worry about me. Stay safe. There's a strand of my hair in the pouch; keep it always. Jing Xi is mad; don't bother with her. Your safety is my happiness. Mo Er, I didn't want to go, I didn't want to lose you. I love you. I don't want you to be my brother; I can't accept that. I just want to love you…"
"Why… Luo Ying… Susu…" Veins bulged on Ye Mo's forehead as he roared, "Susu, Master, don't leave!" He stormed out, his spiritual sense searching frantically. He checked the entrance with the stage and chains, but Susu was gone.
Returning to Serenity, he was stopped by the dark-faced nun. In a furious rage, he unleashed over ten fireballs, ignoring Jing Wen's horsetail whisk. He punched her over ten meters, leaving her paralyzed and bleeding. She hadn't expected such power.
His back was bloodied by the whisk, but he disregarded the injury.
Other nuns tried to stop him, but Jing Xian intervened. "Let him be," she said. "He's emotionally unstable. Wait until he calms down."
The nuns stared in horror at the fireballs. Even Jing Xi was surprised by his killing move.
Ye Mo stormed into Susu's frost room. It was empty except for the cold. Unable to control his rage, he smashed his blood-soaked fist against the wall.
The frost room, inherently unstable, began to crack under his relentless assault.
With a final, earth-shattering blow, the room crumbled. As the dust settled, Ye Mo's rage began to subside. Jing Xi, that old hag… Luo Ying had left because of her. Killing the nun wouldn't suffice.
Luo Ying herself had wanted to kill Jing Xi. Regardless of the reasons, Ye Mo had to kill her.
Eyes blazing, he charged back to the courtyard. "Old nun," he growled, staring coldly at Jing Xi, "what did you say to Luo Ying? Speak!"
Jing Xi shivered, momentarily afraid, but quickly recovered, laughing, "I spoke the truth. You and Luo Ying are siblings. You siblings… did something interesting, hahaha…"
Everyone stared. Her hair obscured her face; she seemed unhinged.
Ye Mo remained coldly impassive.
"Are you stupid? You know the person you love is your sister?" Jing Xi was enraged by his lack of reaction.
Ye Mo sneered. He understood Susu's questions; it seemed she was mistaken. He produced more fireballs. "Before you die," he said coldly, "I'll ensure you're an enlightened ghost. I was adopted by the Ye family at Luo Hong Temple; I do have a sister. We have matching bracelets. See?"
He showed her the bracelet. "Oh, I forgot. My sister is younger. She was also adopted from Luo Hong Temple, but Susu is two years older than me. The Ning family didn't adopt her from Luo Hong Temple."
"Impossible! Susu was adopted from Luo Hong Temple," Jing Xi shrieked.
Ye Mo sneered. "Susu was found by Qingxue's mother outside Luo Hong Temple, some distance away. You likely didn't know she was over a year old when adopted."
"Impossible! This is impossible…" Jing Xi was losing control, her eyes blazing red. "Jing Xi is you and Susu's mother! That wretched bitch…"
"Enough!" Jing Xian interrupted, disgusted. "Jing Xin was a virgin until her death. She couldn't have children. Jing Xi, you've gone too far. Thankfully, Ye shi zhu isn't Susu's sibling. If they were, your actions would incur heaven's wrath."
"What? Jing Xin was a virgin? Ahaha…" Jing Xi laughed hysterically.
The dark-faced nun and two others bowed. "Jing Xi shi mei, Jing Xian shi jie is right. Jing Xin shi mei was a virgin. Her mark remained when she passed. We can testify."
"She isn't…" Jing Xi murmured. "Everything I did… for nothing… nothing…"
Ye Mo, unable to contain his killing intent, lunged, smashing Jing Xi with a fist, sending her flying, spitting blood. He was about to finish her, but two nuns blocked him.
Though hesitant to kill him, they were still a barrier. He unleashed more fireballs, yelling, "Get out of my way!"
They dodged quickly. When they looked up, Ye Mo was already upon Jing Xi. He punched again. Jing Xi, momentarily regaining composure, lashed out with her whisk.
Ye Mo, intent on obliterating her, ignored the attack.
"You're insane!" Jing Xi yelled, shocked by his disregard for her weapon.
His eyes, though not mad, blazed with a terrifying killing intent.
The whisk struck his chest as his fist landed on Jing Xi's stomach.
