Chapter 430: So It Was About Lu Lin Translator: Tim Editor: GlobeGlotter
When Ye Mo saw Guo Qi and Fang Wei, they were clearly lost and looked rather dazed. They sat in the room, motionless. They had gun wounds, but Yu Miaodan seemed to have arranged for their treatment.
“Brother Ye, we’re sorry. We’re causing you trouble, and we truly have nowhere else to go,” Guo Qi said, noting Ye Mo’s impassive expression.
“Master…” Fang Wei said, though Ye Mo hadn’t formally accepted him as a disciple. Ye Mo smiled, gesturing for them to sit, then asked, “What happened?”
Guo Qi sighed, hesitating before replying, “Brother Ye, I’m truly grateful to your friend, Sister Yu. Without her, we’d likely be dead. I never expected you to know the CEO of Luo Yue…”
After a pause, Guo Qi continued, “To be honest, if it weren’t for Lin Lin, I wouldn’t have bothered you, but I know you’re the only one who can save her. This request is presumptuous, but I have to save her.”
Guo Qi trailed off.
Fang Wei quickly interjected, “Sister Lu and Brother Guo are in love, and Sister Lu recently received a promotion. It was good news, but then something terrible happened.”
“A week ago, our former instructor, Xu Shi, brought in a young man named Qiu Zhifei to train with our squad. He came from a powerful background and could choose his squad. He picked Sister Lu’s Eagle Squad. The next day, he got drunk and tried to assault Sister Lu. She fought him off and knocked him unconscious.”
“Qiu Zhifei?” Ye Mo recalled the Beijing Qiu Family. Again? Their arrogance was infuriating. He’d just dealt with Qiu Zhizhe and Qiu Dongchen in Beijing, and now this.
Fang Wei continued, “As soon as Qiu Zhifei was unconscious, Lieutenant Han and a sergeant kicked down Sister Lu’s door. Instead of stopping Qiu Zhifei, they arrested Sister Lu and pressured her to comply with his desires, promising a promotion to colonel.”
Guo Qi clenched his fists.
Fang Wei looked at Guo Qi and continued, “Of course, Sister Lu refused. Qiu Zhifei then ordered Lieutenant Han and the sergeant to strip her. They were about to do so when Brother Guo and I arrived. Brother Guo stabbed Lieutenant Han with his dagger, and I helped him subdue the sergeant. Seeing Sister Lu’s torn clothing, Brother Guo killed the sergeant as well.”
Guo Qi added, “Those animals tried to rape Lin Lin. I couldn’t control myself. I had to kill them. Afterward, I realized Qiu Zhifei had planned it. He had two men following him when he got drunk and went to Lin Lin’s room. It was a setup. If I hadn’t been looking for Lu Lin that day…”
Fang Wei nodded. “When Sister Lu told us, Brother Guo crushed Qiu Zhifei’s scrotum. He was about to kill Qiu Zhifei when others arrived. Brother Guo didn’t have a gun and couldn’t kill him in time. He pushed us and fled, but we didn’t get far because Sister Lu had been shot. She stopped us, telling us to leave her. She said if we were all caught, we’d have no future. Even though we were also shot, we ran.
We had nowhere to go, so we came to Master. Brother Guo wanted you to save Sister Lu. She’s being held captive in the barracks; only you can save her.”
Ye Mo felt a pang of sympathy. Guo Qi was right; Qiu Zhifei had planned it. He’d used drunkenness as a pretext, but knowing he couldn't beat Lu Lin, he’d brought backup. Ye Mo knew he would have done the same as Guo Qi.
Lu Lin was curvy but not exceptionally beautiful. Why would the Qiu Family target her? But Ye Mo didn’t ask. Regardless, they had to be held accountable.
Seeing Ye Mo’s silence, Guo Qi knelt, “Brother Ye, I know my request is presumptuous, but if anyone can save her, it’s you. With Xu Shi’s power, our entire squad wouldn't last a minute. Lin Lin is innocent; she joined the military after being abandoned. I’d rather suffer than let that animal rape her.”
Ye Mo pulled Guo Qi up. “We’re friends. Don’t do that. I know Captain Lu. I’ll help. I need to attend a meeting at Luo Yue; I haven’t been back in a while. I’ll arrange things, then we’ll go to the barracks.”
“Master, Luo Yue is your company?” Fang Wei exclaimed, incredulous.
Ye Mo smiled and nodded. “Yes. If you don’t want to stay in the military, you can work for me.”
“Of course! After this, I can't stay in the military. We'll be dead if we're seen. Guo Qi, what about you?” Fang Wei asked, his pallor gone, his concern for being a wanted man lessened compared to Guo Qi's.
Guo Qi said gravely, “No matter what happens to Lin Lin, my life is yours, Brother Ye.”
…
Ye Mo entered the meeting room; Yu Miaodan and the others had been waiting. Ye Mo apologized, “I was delayed. Let’s get to the point. This is our first major meeting after opening. Sister Yu, give us a report.”
Yu Miaodan stated, “Honestly, if our product weren’t so incredibly effective, we’d have failed before we even started. We lack proper management procedures and qualified pharmacists.”
Ye Mo nodded. She was direct; he understood the situation without details.
Everyone realized the challenges of managing a company. Though they were Ye Mo’s earliest employees, none were truly capable. Without Yu Miaodan, things would have been far worse.
“I need to find someone to manage the company,” Ye Mo frowned, unsure of a suitable candidate.
“May I try?” Ning Qingxue whispered. Despite her youth, she had extensive management experience.
Ye Ling exclaimed, “Brother, let Sister-in-law handle it! I can help too!”
Ye Mo was touched. Ning Qingxue’s offer meant her long-term commitment to Flowing Snake.
“Okay. Qingxue will be Luo Yue’s president; Sister Yu, CEO, responsible for sales, management, and expansion. CEO Zang will remain responsible for production and procurement.”
Ye Mo addressed Xu Ping, “Second Brother, I’ll leave company and Flowing Snake security to you. I’ll find someone for management.”
“I’ll do it,” Xu Ping replied, thrilled. His rapid advancement in such a short time was remarkable.
“Xu Yuehua will handle miscellaneous matters.”
Zang Jiayan hesitated, “Recently, many people with suspicious identities visited Flowing Snake. We lacked the manpower to investigate, but after telling Xu Ping, they disappeared completely. It's unnerving; they seemed to coordinate their arrival and departure.”
