Chapter 431: Who Kills, Pays

Ye Mo smiled. “I’ll handle this, Second Brother. If you find others like them, kill them all.”
Ye Mo knew why they’d come and gone—likely, the two Hong Martial Sect men he’d threatened had spread the word. For now, he didn’t need to worry about investigation; he just needed to collect some taxes.
Yu Miaodan, reassured, turned and said, “President Ye, I think buying this land will reduce our troubles. Expanding our business might attract jealousy.”
Though Yu Miaodan didn’t specify who, Ye Mo knew. Lu Se and Vietnam hadn’t acted yet, but that could change.
“Sister Yu, wait until Sister Yuehua arrives to discuss the land purchase. See what they say,” Ye Mo said. He believed the problem needed immediate resolution; otherwise, it would remain a threat.
Xu Ping nodded seriously. “Third Brother, once Flowing Snake is ours, we can establish another hidden sect—no, a public hidden sect. Let everyone know Flowing Snake’s prosperity.”
Yu Miaodan smiled. “Second Brother’s vision is limited. One day, we can make Flowing Snake a city-state, holding a magnificent fete. We’ll call it Luo Yue City.”
Ye Mo smiled. Alone, he wouldn’t have considered a city, but his following was growing. A personal city would be grand.
But Flowing Snake was too small. His power was too weak; he hadn’t even finished foundation establishment. Building a city was harder than reaching the skies. Even with an army, a bomb could destroy it all. He had a bigger plan, but his power was insufficient.
At a certain power level, he could establish a large city with defensive formations. Earthly trash, perhaps, but sufficient on Earth. He knew it was almost impossible. Even with foundation establishment, where were the spirit stones and formation materials?
Putting that aside, the meeting room phone rang. Yu Miaodan answered, her face turning pale.
“Yang Jiu and Fang Nan were beaten while checking Flowing Snake; they’re seriously wounded. Xiao Huo said their attackers were military, and police were also present, so they didn’t retaliate,” Yu Miaodan said, hanging up.
Ye Mo stood. “Sister Yu, prepare the company for Qingxue. I’ll go see what’s happening. Qingxue will be fully responsible. Qingxue, I’m leaving this to you.”
Ning Qingxue nodded. “Go. I’ll handle things here.”
…
Ye Mo arrived to find Fang Nan and Yang Jiu surrounded by twenty soldiers in camouflage, guns pointed at them. More than ten policemen stood nearby.
The atmosphere was tense. Han Zai lay on the ground, his leg bloodied. A young man lay beside him, shot in the heart.
“Brother Ye…” “Big Boss…”
Fang Nan and Yang Jiu greeted. Ye Mo nodded, coldly eyeing those around them. He pointed at the injured men. “What’s this?”
Fang Nan said, “They claim to be from the border barracks. They tried to force entry to search; we stopped them. They killed Jian Liang and shot Han Zai.”
A bleak voice clapped. “Finally, someone who dares to talk. If no one had come, we’d have killed anyone who resisted.”
Ye Mo coldly looked at the warrant officer.
“Very cocky. You killed him? Who authorized you?” Ye Mo asked coldly.
The warrant officer studied Ye Mo. “Do I need your permission? Anyone who resists will die. This isn’t your land, either. In Flowing Snake, the strong prevail. Now, I’m stronger—ugh—”
He grasped his neck, blood gushing. He stared at Ye Mo in horror, not expecting an attack. He’d only seen Ye Mo’s hand move slightly.
“How dare you kill me?” The words died in his throat.
The warrant officer slumped dead, eyes wide.
Ye Mo said plainly, “Seems I’m stronger.”
The soldiers reacted, raising their guns.
Blood flashed. Three men’s hands were severed; guns and men fell, pale-faced.
Ye Mo scanned them. “I spared these three; I haven’t stated my rules yet. Point guns at me, and I will kill you. Kill anyone in Flowing Snake, and you will die.”
No one had seen Ye Mo attack; everyone was silent. Seeing the three men’s hands severed, the others lowered their guns. Even Yang Jiu and Fang Nan were shocked; Ye Mo had killed a military officer. Even in Flowing Snake, they were Chinese citizens.
His strength was absurd; a flick of his hand, and they died invisibly.
A man in his thirties stepped forward. “Put your guns down.”
The men obeyed. He approached Ye Mo. “We’re from the border barracks; I’m Li Dong. You’re strong; an ancient martial arts cultivator? Did you kill our officer because of your strength or a hidden sect? Even if you kill us all, can this little place stop our army?”
Ye Mo said plainly, “Then you killed our people, right? When you opened fire, should we have surrendered?”
“That’s different. We were apprehending people; accidental deaths happen. If we wanted to kill, everyone would be dead. Warrant Officer Liao killed a civilian; you killed an officer. Even if he erred, you had no right to kill him,” Li Dong said, his face red.
Ye Mo’s tone sharpened. “Killing is a mistake? You’re superior? In Flowing Snake, everyone is equal. Who kills, pays. Leave; you’re not welcome. Continue to hassle us, and I’ll kick you out.”
“I don’t care who you are. You deserve the death penalty for killing an officer. We came to apprehend Guo Qi and Fang Wei. Tell me, are they here? I’ll leave, but I’ll return with tanks and missiles,” Li Dong’s tone darkened. He feared death, despite Ye Mo’s strength.
Ye Mo sneered. “Leave. Tell your officer I’ll bring Guo Qi and Fang Wei. And tell Qiu Zhifei to prepare his neck. If Captain Lu is harmed, even Han Zai can’t save him.”
“What? Director Han?” Li Dong was shocked. He knew Director Han; he wasn’t ordinary.
“Who are you?” Li Dong’s tone softened. He’d never seen someone so dominant after killing an officer.
“Tell your officer to investigate thoroughly. Otherwise, don’t blame me,” Ye Mo said. He appreciated Li Dong’s courage but disliked his arrogance.
In the cultivation realm, the strong felt superior, and Li Dong was no different.
“You… are you Ye Mo? Beijing Ye Mo?” Li Dong’s face changed. He was speechless.
