Chapter 45: Who's Going to Piss Off

Translator: Tim Editor: Tehrn/Carolin

"Is there any point in trying to kill me? Don't you know the whole world would find out instantly, you idiot?" Wen Dong sneered.

"Calmcalm downWen Dong. I didn't want to kill you. It was" He didn't finish before she opened fire.

"I don't need to know," Wen Dong said, her expression returning to normal as she killed the man with a single shot.

Meanwhile, Ye Mo wondered if Wen Dong would ask about his background. Even if she did, he wouldn't tell her anything; he was only there for the promised $50,000. He hadn't expected earning that little money to be so difficult. He'd nearly died. After a while, instead of questioning him, she simply said, "Let's go. Those two were probably guards. There's probably no one left. I'll set off a bomb to blow this place up."

Ye Mo wondered where the bomb was.

Before he could ask, Wen Dong produced a series of bombs from her waist, shocking him. "She really did bring bombs! Her bomb threat was real! This woman's a maniac! If she'd set it off earlier…"

Though he disliked it, Ye Mo remained silent. He'd faced many dangerous situations and wasn't fazed by another.

Twenty minutes after they drove off, a massive explosion echoed in the distance.

After a long silence, Wen Dong asked, "If you're going to Gui Ling, why not fly?" She knew Ye Mo wasn't ordinary; his calmness throughout the ordeal proved it. His silence now indicated he wasn't happy. If not for him, she would have died.

She wasn't afraid of death, but if she died, she wouldn't be able to use the money as planned. Though unspoken, she was grateful to Ye Mo.

"I don't have my ID," Ye Mo replied simply. Even if he did, he wouldn't use it. He'd killed Song Shaowen and disappeared that night; the Song family would eventually find him. Buying a plane ticket would be a direct lead. He wasn't strong enough to confront them.

After Wang Peng's hand healed, he was on high alert, realizing he wasn't the only powerful person in the world. After another silence, Wen Dong said, "Thank you. Without you, I'd be dead. The $50,000 is too little, but I can't give you more; it's earmarked for other things. Take the case with the model inside; it's valuable. You can protect it, but don't ask me what it is; I don't know much."

"However, if you trust me, we're three hours from Hu Yang, a remote mountain region, and I can help you get a new identity there."

Ye Mo wasn't interested in the model but a new identity would be incredibly useful. He readily agreed. "Fine, I trust you. I need a new identity."

He was satisfied with the $50,000. He didn't care much about money, as long as he had enough. Even if Wen Dong gave him US dollars, exchanging them would be a hassle.

Wen Dong was impressed. Ye Mo was powerful, easygoing, and unconcerned with money. He could easily have killed her and robbed her, but he hadn't even looked at the case once. He hadn't complained about the $50,000 despite the risk. He hadn't asked about her identity, her work, or her destination. He was like a stranger, but certainly not an ordinary one.

"Do you have a phone number?" Wen Dong wanted to stay in touch.

"No, I value peace," Ye Mo replied, making her realize he disliked socializing. She didn't press further; she wasn't the type to bother someone.

Three hours later, they arrived in Hu Yang. Ye Mo checked into a small hotel after Wen Dong photographed him. When she returned the next day at 3 PM, Ye Mo's new identity was ready. He was still Ye Mo, but his address was a rural area in Hu Yang, which he didn't mind. There were many Ye Mos. Wen Dong gave him the $50,000 and the case, saying she no longer needed it.

The case's contents were light, so Ye Mo discarded the case, put the contents in a plastic bag, and packed it in his backpack. He then said goodbye to Wen Dong.

That night, Ye Mo took a train to Xian Shan, the southernmost city of Hu Zhong Province, bordering Xiang Huai and near Gui Nan Province. Gui Lin, his destination, was in Gui Nan Province. He had to go through Xiang Huai to reach it.

Upon arriving in Xian Shan, Ye Mo wasn't in a hurry. Even if the Song family knew he killed Song Shaowen, they wouldn't find him easily. They would need time to realize he’d disappeared.

After a night in Xian Shan, Ye Mo bought new clothes. To avoid being shot again, he also purchased a box of small metal nails—unusual projectiles, but more than sufficient for him.

While shopping, he noticed a well-dressed man pickpocketing a middle-aged man on the phone. The thief was trying to get into a leather bag. Another well-dressed youth then told Ye Mo, "Kid, stop staring, or I'll gouge your eyes out! Scram!"

Ye Mo's eyes turned cold. He kicked the youth in the face.
