“Lu Lin, you three go with Shi Xiu to He Feng, and have Li Chunsheng help you reach Luo Yue. I still have things to do with Luo Ying; I’ll be a while,” Ye Mo said, wanting to leave.
If not for the trouble in Jiu Tang, he would have already taken Luo Ying to the Duan Heng Ranges to find the nun. His priority was the golden page and the source of her spirit stone.
Since the nun suspected he possessed the other two pages, she likely wouldn’t return to the small world. Her priority was also the golden page.
He was badly injured, and Luo Ying wasn’t strong. Jie Xun didn’t know about his lotus life pill, so she probably thought she would capture them. Upon recovering, she would seek him and Luo Ying in the village.
Lu Lin knew they needed to reach Luo Yue quickly. Though Ye Mo was strong, he couldn’t protect them forever.
She said gratefully, “Thank you. Without you, we’d be in peril.”
Ye Mo smiled. “It’s fine. Leave soon; Jiu Tang isn’t safe.”
Lu Lin hesitated, then said, “Jiuhe found a colorful stone as a child. He said it was precious but didn’t know why. He kept it hidden, fearing unwanted attention. It’s at home. I wanted to give it to you last time, but you left too quickly. Now it’s gone—they took it when we were captured.”
Ye Mo waved his hand. “It was just a stone. I heard Jiuhe mention it; he said he’d give it to me when he was free. Don’t worry about it.” He thought it was merely a precious gemstone, of little use to him.
“Mom, is that the colorful stone that’s sometimes warm, sometimes cool?” Yanyan asked.
“What? The stone changes temperature?” Ye Mo interrupted before Lu Lin could answer.
She looked at Ye Mo strangely. “Yes, it’s an eerie stone.”
“What color is it? Does it change color, too?” Ye Mo’s excitement grew.
Lu Lin nodded. “Yes, its color changes. Sometimes red and white; sometimes red, white, and blue. Rarely, it shows five colors. Have you seen such a stone?”
Though excited, Ye Mo remained calm. He recognized it as a Five Element Rock.
It was a rare material for artifact forging—rarer than Star Jade—used to create spirit artifacts, far more powerful than magic artifacts.
Ye Mo knew he couldn’t make spirit artifacts, even with the rock. But adding a bit to ordinary materials could create a flying sword.
He’d long sought materials for a flying sword, to no avail. He wouldn’t let this opportunity pass.
“How big was the stone? Where did you lose it?” Ye Mo asked.
Yi Xiaodie suddenly asked, “Brother Ye, is it very important? More precious than a diamond?” Diamonds were perhaps the most valuable things in her world.
Ye Mo nodded.
An egg-sized Five Element Rock was worth millions of spirit stones—more than he’d ever seen, even in his past life. He believed its origin was likely asteroids or meteorites.
Lu Lin said, “It was the size of two fists. After the final trial, we knew things wouldn’t be easy. We packed, but the Wu Jin Association took us before we left.”
“Wu Jin Association?” Ye Mo questioned. There were many small gangs.
“The Wu Jin Association is a well-known gang in He Dong Province. Smaller gangs rose to power as mainland gangs declined,” Xue Guoyang explained, his police work giving him insight.
Lu Lin nodded. “They took all our belongings. We haven’t gotten them back.”
Understanding, Ye Mo said to Shi Xiu and Xue Guoyang, “Go back to He Feng; I’ll return later.”
“Brother Ye, should we wait for you and Sister Luo at He Feng?” Yi Xiaodie asked.
Ye Mo smiled. “No need. Find a way to Luo Yue once you’re in He Feng. I’m busy; I’ll visit you there.”
…
Ye Mo wanted to send Luo Ying to Luo Yue before searching for the Five Element Rock.
Aware of the pistol’s threat, he knew Northern Sand could create at least eight more with their remaining stones. Excluding the one he’d already dealt with, they had about seven.
If something happened to Luo Ying, even at ascension stage, he couldn’t forgive himself. Without her, he doubted he’d continue cultivation. After marrying her, she was part of his life.
If they created not only a pistol but also a sniper outside his spirit sense range, he wouldn’t be able to dodge it.
He knew Northern Sand wouldn’t let him go after such a loss; they just lacked the confidence to attack him.
Luo Ying seemed to understand and touched his face. “En, I’ll wait. Isn’t your sister in Ning Hai? Send me there. Be careful.”
Ye Mo produced the extreme energy stone pistol and gave it to Luo Ying. “Susu, take this. If you’re ever in danger, don’t hesitate to fire.”
“No, no one will know I’m in Ning Hai. I won’t be in danger. You keep it,” Luo Ying refused.
He hugged her. “This pistol is for limited use, and I won’t use it. Use it to protect yourself and Beiwei. I’ll meet you as soon as I get the stone.”
Considering taking Luo Ying to Luo Yue, Ye Mo hesitated. He wasn’t sure if it was the right time to tell her about Qingxue.
Luo Ying saw his hesitation but didn’t ask. He would tell her what needed to be said.
