Chapter 615: Wu Jin Association

Compared to the chaos in Beijing, Jin City, China's second-largest city, was relatively calm. However, the city's wealthiest family, the Shens, were anything but calm.

Their ancestor was supposedly Shen Wansan, a renowned businessman who, despite numerous setbacks, used his acumen to firmly establish the family. While not Forbes-listed, those in the business world knew that truly wealthy individuals rarely appeared on such lists. The Shen family was one such family.

The Shen family's unease stemmed from the death of their leader, Shen Taigong, due to illness. Family rules dictated that the eldest son of the first wife would succeed, with no exceptions, unless the eldest son died.

The eldest son was still alive, but effectively incapacitated. Shen Qiuyin had been in a vegetative state for six months.

The large Shen family was thus embroiled in conflict over the succession.

Shen Yin, also a Shen family member, had recently returned from Hong Kong, but her Aunt Qingkui had not accompanied her. She had left alone, and Shen Yin was unaware of her whereabouts, causing her distress.

Upon returning to Jin City, Shen Yin immediately informed the family that her aunt had been cured by a young man on a plane using runic paper. She urged them to find this young man to treat her uncle.

Initially, some believed Qingkui's recovery, but Shen Yin's explanation involving charms led to dismissal.

The family reasoned that if Qingkui were truly cured, she would have returned. They suspected Shen Yin was seeking more funds for Qingkui's treatment, deeming her explanation unconvincing.

Shen Yin approached her father, but his response only deepened her sadness. He instructed her to distance herself from Qingkui and reproached her for spreading the story about the runic paper.

Desperately, Shen Yin sought her cousin, Shen Feilin, to unfreeze a card, but he refused, believing it had been obtained fraudulently, despite the relatively small sum involved.

Shen Yin's near-altercation with Shen Feilin failed to unfreeze the card.

The Shen family's disbelief and disregard for Aunt Qingkui left Shen Yin deeply disappointed, finally understanding why her aunt had left and refused to return.

Meanwhile, Ye Mo sent Luo Ying to Ning Hai, and Su Jingwen went to Beijing for her grandfather's birthday.

Seeing Luo Ying, Tang Beiwei admired her brother's choice of wives; both were incredibly beautiful. However, she worried about their eventual meeting and her brother's handling of the situation. She also felt sorry for Su Jingwen, an excellent woman, and Sister Yun Bing, both unrequited in their affections for her brother.

After sending Luo Ying to Ning Hai, Ye Mo made arrangements and returned to Jiutang. While the golden page was important, it wasn't immediately urgent; the Five Element Rock, however, was.

The Wu Jin Association, Jiu Tang's largest gang, operated throughout He Dong Province.

Black Head, whose company was a Wu Jin Association subsidiary, had planned to use Shi Xiu for profit. However, when the Association learned Shi Xiu had aided Li Chunsheng, they ordered his death. Instead, Black Head was killed.

The brazen murder on their turf enraged the Association.

Using their extensive network, the Association discovered the killer was a licensed assassin from Beijing.

This made the Association's boss hesitant about revenge, fearing government repercussions. While powerful, they were still a gang, and retaliation could lead to unwanted consequences. But inaction would damage their reputation and solidarity.

Xiong Qianyi convened a meeting to discuss revenge.

"Brother Xiong, if Young Master Heng weren't injured, we'd be helpless, but now…" someone suggested, "Who does he think he is, injuring Young Master Heng?"

Xiong Qianyi frowned and waved his hand. "We'll wait and see how Young Master Heng handles it. He's a licensed assassin; caution is necessary. Bring Officer Liu."

Xiong Qianyi knew Dai Heng's caretaker had met the assassin, departed swiftly, and Lu Lin and others had left Jiu Tang. Yet the killer and the beautiful woman remained in the hotel.

"This young man has considerable backing. Dai Heng's caretaker visited but didn't take him, suggesting an agreement," Xiong Qianyi mused. "Order: No one touches him."

Dai Heng, an incredibly arrogant man who had easily killed a mid-level official, had suffered a broken leg and remained silent.

Officer Liu, covered in blood, was brought in.

"Officer Liu, one more chance. Tell me the killer's name and background. You may not fear death, but what about your wife? I guarantee your wife's safety if you cooperate," Xiong Qianyi offered.

Liu Zhun knew his fate, regardless of his answer.

As Liu Zhun began to speak, a voice boomed, "My name is Ye Mo. If you're so eager to meet me, I'm here. Fortunately, you're all assembled."

"Who are you? How did you get in?" Xiong Qianyi, startled, looked at Ye Mo.

"I walked in," Ye Mo replied, kicking away two would-be attackers.

Ignoring the thugs, Xiong Qianyi's face changed drastically. He asked in a shaky voice, "Wait, your name is Ye Mo? The Beijing Ye family's Ye Mo?"
