Chapter 684: Pitiful Motive

An Zhiqi nodded seriously. “Yes, I’m sure it’s him. I have a strong feeling he suspects me. He’s close to Chen Guang, and we’re familiar, but he never socialized with us actively. However, since the teacher died, he often hangs out with us. He even wanted to join our Antarctica trip.”

Ye Mo fell silent. He hadn’t expected Dongfang Wang’s computer skills to be so good. If he hacked Luo Yue’s network, the consequences would be unimaginable. Although he’d told Xu Yuehua to warn Ye Xing, he wasn’t certain it worked. Thankfully, Luo Yue’s military base and government network weren’t connected to the outside internet.

After a while, An Zhiqi said, “I’m sure this is related to Dongfang Wang because, once in the dining hall, he suddenly asked me about the Swiss bank robbery. I was shocked, but I played it cool, saying, ‘It’s not my country’s money; I don’t care.’”

“What was he like?” Ye Mo asked.

An Zhiqi, after thinking, said, “He smiled and asked me to dinner. I was afraid of him, so I agreed. Luckily, after dinner, he just sent me home and didn’t say much. Just thinking about it makes me shiver. I really don’t want to be around him, but I pretend nothing’s wrong when he’s with Chen Guang and the others.”

Ye Mo smiled. “An Zhiqi, I believe you, but I don’t understand why Dongfang Wang didn’t kill you.”

“What?” An Zhiqi looked at Ye Mo, confused.

Ye Mo said plainly, “If I’m not wrong, Dongfang Wang has long suspected you. He killed the student who found your notebook to warn you.”

“What?” An Zhiqi gasped. She thought she’d hidden it well, and Dongfang Wang had acted normally. How could he know?

Ye Mo said, “I don’t know why he didn’t kill you, but I’m sure he knows you suspect him. I’m increasingly interested in Dongfang Wang. This is the Yan River, but you’ve never been to his house. How will you find him?” Ye Mo waved his hand.

“Wait. There’s something I haven’t told you,” An Zhiqi said.

“Oh? What is it?” Ye Mo asked.

An Zhiqi said, “In Antarctica, the first one to start climbing was Dongfang Wang. He carried a blue bag up the mountain. After he came down, the bag was gone, and we never heard him mention it. I suspect he placed it there intentionally.”

Ye Mo nodded. He decided to revisit that mountain after returning to Luo Yue.

An Zhiqi thought of something and felt uneasy. Ye Mo sensed her tension.

“Are you worried Dongfang Wang will come after you?” Ye Mo asked.

An Zhiqi nodded. “I don’t think he doubts me, but what if he does?”

Before Ye Mo could reply, his spirit sense scanned a brick house. Inside were two bedrooms; in one, Ye Mo found a large bag—the one Dongfang Wang had taken to Antarctica.

Dongfang Wang and his mother weren’t home, and the room was clean.

Ye Mo took An Zhiqi into Dongfang Wang’s room. As soon as he entered, his spirit sense detected a small camera. Dongfang Wang was no ordinary person. Regardless of his relationship with his brothers, he was ambitious. He liked control.

When An Zhiqi entered, she felt uneasy. Just as she was about to suggest leaving, a voice sounded, “You wouldn’t let me go. I know who you are, and I have no intention of being your enemy. I can’t beat you. But An Zhiqi, you brought someone into my room! You—you—”

Dongfang Wang was calm initially, but his tone became emotional when speaking to An Zhiqi.

An Zhiqi got goosebumps. She looked around and moved closer to Ye Mo.

Ye Mo remained silent. He realized Dongfang Wang had anticipated his arrival and hidden. He also seemed to know Ye Mo’s identity. He was dangerous—a man who’d predicted everything.

“What does bringing Brother Ye here have to do with you?” An Zhiqi replied shakily.

“An Zhiqi, I know you suspect me, but I didn’t kill you. I thought you liked me, and you never hated me. That day I invited you to dinner, you agreed immediately. When I was with Chen Guang and the others, you never avoided me. Why did you bring someone to my home today? Why? Why?” Dongfang Wang’s voice shook; it was full of disappointment.

Ye Mo realized An Zhiqi was Dongfang Wang’s dream woman. He was so smart, yet he couldn’t see through this. Better emotional intelligence would have shown him An Zhiqi was scared, not attracted to him.

Hearing Dongfang Wang’s confession, An Zhiqi shivered. She hadn’t expected this maniac to be in love with her. Ye Mo was right; he really knew everything.

Ye Mo patted her shoulder. “You don’t need to be afraid of this maniac.”

Empowered by Ye Mo’s words, she pointed at the speaker and cursed, “Dongfang Wang, you scum! You have great computer skills; you could have done it without the teacher finding out, but you still killed him. Do you still dare say you didn’t kill him?”

“Yes, I killed him, but not for what you think. I used his computer as a zombie computer, but he didn’t know. No one could know. His computer is just one of countless zombie computers I use. I didn’t kill him because of that, but because I love you. And he—he was just an ugly frog! He spent all day bothering you. I’ve wanted to kill him for a long time. I knew you suspected me, and you’re right! I didn’t kill you because I love you. Although I’ve never confessed, I want you to be a queen!” Dongfang Wang continued, his tone growing excited. He wanted to show his heart to An Zhiqi.

“Don’t make me throw up!” An Zhiqi cursed, then suddenly hugged Ye Mo and kissed him.

Ye Mo wanted to speak, but An Zhiqi let go and said, “I like you. Please don’t reject me.”

A furious roar came from the speaker. Ye Mo heard something smashing. He shook his head. Dongfang Wang truly liked An Zhiqi, but her actions crushed him. This would only make him hate Ye Mo more.
