Chapter 730: Entering Wu Wen City
“En.” Mu Xiaoyun nestled into Ye Mo’s arms like a cat.
Ye Mo knew the Primordial Fortune Chant required significant resources. After teaching Mu Xiaoyun this cultivation method, he gave her most of his pills, spirit stones, and gold cheques, keeping only a few essence-increasing pills and some ordinary pills for himself.
“Ye babe, what if they ask me to study the Ice Lake cultivation method?” Mu Xiaoyun worried about entering the core sector after Ye Mo left.
Ye Mo smiled. “Just cultivate the Primordial Fortune Chant. You don’t need the Ice Lake method. A quick look and imitating the movements with your chi will suffice.”
“En.”
Soon, night fell. Exhausted from her day’s work, Mu Xiaoyun fell asleep immediately after dinner.
Ye Mo stayed awake. He added Geng Metal Essence to Mu Xiaoyun’s flying sword, made more pills, and left them in her ring before finally sleeping.
He didn’t know how long he’d be gone. He didn’t want Mu Xiaoyun’s cultivation to stagnate due to a lack of pills.
The next morning, Ye Mo made breakfast, kissed the sleeping Mu Xiaoyun, and whispered, “Xiaoyun, I’m going. Cultivate hard, eat well, sleep well. Wait for me.”
Then, Ye Mo left. His spirit sense had detected Ji Yilan approaching. He didn’t want to speak with her, so he mounted his flying sword and ascended into the sky.
He knew Mu Xiaoyun had awakened, but he didn’t call to her.
Mu Xiaoyun ran barefoot to the door, watching his sword disappear. Tears streamed down her face. She’d woken in the night, longing for his embrace, but understood his responsibilities then, and now.
“Martial Sister Xiaoyun, what’s wrong?” Ji Yilan had come to persuade Ye Mo, but found Mu Xiaoyun crying at the door, barefoot.
Mu Xiaoyun wiped her tears, sniffing. “Husband has left.”
“Huh?” Ji Yilan was shocked, then understood.
Mo Ying likely realized keeping Mu Xiaoyun wasn’t wise, and so left Ice Lake. This improved Ji Yilan’s opinion of him.
But she immediately thought, ‘Mo Ying is ordinary. Leaving this mountain range is practically suicide.’
Seeing Mu Xiaoyun’s deep sadness, Ji Yilan remained silent. She feared urging Mo Ying’s pursuit. Besides, his death might ultimately benefit Mu Xiaoyun. Given time and new experiences, she might forget her husband.
“Xiaoyun, what’s this food?” Ji Yilan noticed the exquisite breakfast. Even she had to admit it looked delicious.
“Husband made it,” Mu Xiaoyun replied, surprised by Ji Yilan’s question.
Ji Yilan was shocked. “Your husband… made this?”
Mu Xiaoyun nodded. “Yes, for me.”
Ji Yilan was enlightened. She hadn’t expected the seemingly rough man to be so meticulous. Was this why Mu Xiaoyun couldn’t leave him? She quickly dismissed the thought as impossible.
Mu Xiaoyun composed herself, inviting Ji Yilan to sit while she freshened up. “Martial Sister Yilan, if you haven’t eaten, please join me.”
“I won’t say no.” Ji Yilan had longed to eat the food.
One bite of the lotus leaf egg, and Ji Yilan realized this wasn’t ordinary cooking. She subconsciously asked, “Xiaoyun, is your husband a chef?”
“No,” Mu Xiaoyun shook her head.
Ji Yilan soon finished, embarrassed. “Sorry, Xiaoyun. Your husband’s cooking is superb; I ate too much.”
“It’s fine. He’ll make more when he returns,” Mu Xiaoyun said.
Ji Yilan was about to speak when she felt a surge of warmth and a condensation of her inner qi.
Mu Xiaoyun explained, “That’s normal, Martial Sister. Husband adds herbs to his cooking. Good for cultivation.”
“Eh?” Ji Yilan stared, shocked. Adding herbs to cooking was difficult. Was her husband a herbal master? Should she tell her grandmother?
Ji Yilan decided against it. It would only cause trouble.
“Xiaoyun, now that your husband left Ice Lake, why not live with me?” Ji Yilan remembered her purpose.
Mu Xiaoyun nodded.
…
Wu Wen City—a sizable city near the hidden sects. Located 150 km from Wu Wen Mountain, it was always bustling with merchants and martial artists gathering herbs. Some sects also recruited disciples there.
While Wu Wen Mountain, rich in herbs, was accessible only once every five years with limited entry, the surrounding mountain ranges also yielded many herbs, sometimes rare ones. This attracted many herbalists.
Herbalists sold their finds upon leaving the mountains, creating a cycle of supply and demand that formed Wu Wen City.
Ye Mo headed straight for Wu Wen City after leaving Ice Lake. Others took a week to reach Wu Wen Mountain from Ice Lake; Ye Mo took less than an hour.
Five months remained before the mist dissipated, but Ye Mo wouldn’t wait to enter with the others.
After half an hour, he saw Wu Wen City. He dismounted his flying sword and entered.
He intended to buy supplies and learn more about Wu Wen Mountain.
But upon entering, he was met with a huge uproar.
