Chapter 788: Ye Mo’s Killing Intent

The deaths of the Song family’s young masters in Ning Hai had once silenced the city. Even gangsters feared the presence of Ye Mo. However, eight years ago, this peace shattered with the return of Di Dongbing, a ruthless mafia leader, from Italy. He established the Bao She Hall, quickly seizing control of Ning Hai and expanding into a powerful European corporation. The Hall’s dealings were extensive, their involvement limited only by potential profit.

Tonight was a double celebration: Di Hua, the boss's son, was celebrating his birthday, and Di Caifeng’s powerful master was arriving. Di Dongbing valued this master’s connection more than his global enterprise, particularly the possibility of his son becoming the master’s disciple.

A hurried footstep interrupted his thoughts, causing Di Dongbing to frown. He’d often stressed the importance of calm and composure to his men.

“What is it, Lu Lipin?” he asked, his brow furrowed. Lu Lipin, his most trusted and capable man in Ning Hai, was usually unflappable. This haste was unusual.

Lu Lipin, noticing his excited demeanor, quickly composed himself. “Big Brother, you mentioned needing a gift for the master. I’ve located something extraordinary: a luminous pearl.”

Di Dongbing’s excitement was immediate. “A luminous pearl?” He’d witnessed one at a Paris auction over a decade ago—a legendary Chinese pearl sold for $500 million. The memory of its ethereal glow remained vivid. Such a gift was priceless, yet he knew offering it to his master would yield greater rewards.

“Yes, a luminous pearl,” Lu Lipin confirmed.

“Where is it? Retrieve it immediately, by any means necessary!” Di Dongbing commanded.

“We needn't pay,” Lu Lipin explained. “We learned of it from an ordinary woman. Her husband recently discovered it and gave it to her. The family is quite unassuming; acquiring the pearl will be… simple.” He mimed a throat-slitting gesture.

Di Dongbing’s years of experience cautioned him against such assumptions. Those possessing such a treasure were unlikely to be ordinary.

“Where did you obtain this information?” Di Dongbing asked, his tone regaining its usual calm.

Lu Lipin replied, “From a taxi driver. He overheard a father and daughter discussing the pearl; the daughter knew its value, and confirmed her father had given it to her mother.”

“Are you certain?” Di Dongbing pressed, excitement evident in his voice.

Lu Lipin nodded. “Yes. The girl clearly understood its worth, and verified the father’s gift.”

“Excellent!” Di Dongbing exclaimed. “Retrieve it at once. Since they know its value, they won't part with it easily. Be discreet and avoid trouble.”

“Of course, Big Brother. They are ordinary folk. Even if they weren’t, we can handle it discreetly,” Lu Lipin assured him.

Ye Yimo, cleaning the kitchen, caught sight of her parents embracing. She quietly closed the door and returned to her cooking, her heart warmed by the scene. She understood the hardships her mother endured.

Ye Mo, aware of Yimo’s observation, patted Song Yangzhu’s shoulder. “Yangzhu, let’s go out to eat. Yimo is cooking, but I'll tell her to stop. Tonight’s a special night. You and Yimo will live with me from now on. I’ll make up for your past losses.” Song Yangzhu blushed at the implication of his "surprise."

“Yimo, stop cooking; we’re going out,” Ye Mo announced, drawing Song Yangzhu out. The sight of his daughter filled him with contentment.

“Really?” Yimo’s face lit up with joy.

Ye Mo embraced his daughter. The simple act filled him with happiness.

“Dad, I’ll change into a pretty dress,” Yimo said, noticing her mother’s attire.

Ye Mo smiled, rubbing her head. “No need. I'll buy you the finest clothes in—”

He abruptly stopped. His spirit sense detected a van, its occupants identifiable: their taxi driver, guiding three armed men towards Song Yangzhu’s house. Why bring weapons? Had the woman summoned them? But then he realized the driver had overheard the conversation about the pearl; this was a robbery.

Ye Mo’s killing intent flared. Had the pearl's existence been revealed earlier, his family might not have survived, and he’d never have known his daughter.

“Yangzhu, pack your things with Yimo. I'll be back soon, and when I return, we're leaving for good.” Ye Mo patted Song Yangzhu and left.
