Chapter 810: Jiu Ming Sect Leader
Cai Ji, incredulous that a single pill could grant immediate Heaven Level attainment, nonetheless consumed it without hesitation. A surge of potent spiritual force immediately coursed through her. Overjoyed, she swiftly began cultivating, transforming the force into inner qi. Her inner qi swelled, gradually forming a qi sea.
Ye Mo also ingested a pill and commenced cultivation. After several meridian cycles, he rose abruptly, having reached the Tertiary Stage of the 8th level. Satisfied, he noticed it was now daylight. He looked at Cai Ji; she had just finished cultivating and risen, gazing joyfully at her hands, seemingly smoother now. She felt a powerful inner qi sea, capable of effortlessly demolishing a house with a mere gesture.
“I’ve reached Heaven Level,” Cai Ji murmured, thanking Ye Mo profusely. She hadn't anticipated the pills' potency.
Ye Mo smiled. “Congratulations!”
Zheng Chao, coincidentally at Ye Mo's door, overheard Cai Ji's exclamation from within. Shocked, he suspected Ye Mo of impropriety. Having spent only a single night at their sect, had he assaulted his martial sister?
Zheng Chao had long desired Cai Ji. While not exceptionally beautiful, she possessed a naturally alluring scent. His own talent, however, was mediocre; he’d only reached the Earth Level Middle Stage despite abundant resources over a decade ago, stagnating since. Rejected by her previously, he'd striven to match her strength, yet his desperation hindered his cultivation.
Hearing sounds from Ye Mo's room, he yielded to impulse, knocking insistently. Had Ye Mo not been a VIP, and were he stronger, he would have forced his way in.
Ye Mo, aware of Zheng Chao's presence, looked at Cai Ji. “Let’s go. Take me to Pang Wei. Afterward, I’m leaving Jiu Ming Academy.”
“Yes, Brother Ye,” Cai Ji replied.
Opening the door, Zheng Chao saw Cai Ji. Her clothes were disheveled, yet she smiled, showing no signs of coercion. Cai Ji rarely smiled.
Dazed, Zheng Chao asked, “Martial Sister Cai Ji, did you arrive at City Lord Ye’s room this morning?”
Cai Ji’s smile vanished, replaced by her usual coldness. “No, I came last night. Do you require something?”
Zheng Chao instantly grasped the situation. What could a man and woman do together overnight? He drew his sword, shouting, “I’ll kill you!!”
Before Ye Mo could respond, Cai Ji sneered, kicking Zheng Chao several meters onto a nearby flower pot.
Zheng Chao's yell alerted others; Feng Wu arrived first. He observed Cai Ji's disheveled appearance and Zheng Chao, frowning. “Martial Brother Zheng, what is the meaning of this?”
“I’ll kill Ye Mo! He seduced Martial Sister Cai Ji, keeping her in his room overnight!” Zheng Chao snarled.
Cai Ji scoffed. “Zheng Chao, who are you to me? I sought Brother Ye’s assistance. Even if he’d summoned me, what concern is it of yours?”
Zheng Chao sputtered, speechless.
The onlookers understood. Zeng Zhengxia smiled wryly; Brother Ye was honorable, seemingly self-controlled around women, and Cai Ji wasn't exceptionally striking.
Ye Mo didn't bother explaining.
“Leave!” Feng Wu ordered Zheng Chao, dismissing him. Then, politely addressing Ye Mo, he continued, “My martial brother, overjoyed to hear of City Lord Ye's arrival, wishes to meet you. Please accompany me.”
“I’ll come with you,” Zeng Zhengxia interjected, sensing Jiu Ming Academy's negative view of Ye Mo. As one of the six great sect leaders, he would accompany Ye Mo to demonstrate his support.
Ye Mo smiled, addressing Feng Wu, “If Sect Leader Wang wishes to see me, tell him to come here. I'm occupied with Cai Ji; I have no time for your Sect Leader Wang.”
Feng Wu, taken aback by Ye Mo's bluntness, was speechless.
Murmurs arose. Though powerful, having elevated Zeng Zhengxia to Great Heaven in a single night, Ye Mo's rudeness towards Sect Leader Wang was inappropriate. Some even felt Ye Mo was as strong as Wang Yijian, his annihilation of Gourd Cave testament to this, yet he should still pay his respects.
Only Zeng Zhengxia and Cai Ji understood Ye Mo’s intentions. It was akin to a Yellow Level cultivator telling an Earth Level one, “You’re not bad; I’ll grant you a meeting.” Would the Earth Level visit the Yellow Level? The Yellow Level should be grateful not to be killed.
The atmosphere thickened, but Cai Ji interjected, “Martial Brother Feng, Brother Ye is truly occupied. He has no time.”
“Cai Ji, you—” Feng Wu was surprised by Cai Ji's support, her addressing Ye Mo as “Brother Ye.” Even if they'd slept together, it was a one-night stand; she needn't change so drastically. Upon closer inspection, he exclaimed, “Martial Sister Cai Ji, you—you've reached Great Heaven?!”
“What?” Everyone observed Cai Ji, recognizing her as a Great Heaven master, like Zeng Zhengxia.
They gazed at Ye Mo with fervent eyes, especially the women, eager to achieve Great Heaven.
Zeng Zhengxia realized there was nothing untoward between Ye Mo and Cai Ji.
Ye Mo announced, “I discovered three Great Heaven Fruits in the Duan Heng Ranges. I consumed one, and Cai Ji and Sect Leader Zeng each consumed one.” He knew greed was insatiable; he'd rather quell it than resort to violence.
“City Lord Ye, you're also at Great Heaven?” Feng Wu asked, astonished.
Before Ye Mo could reply, a deep voice boomed, “The Wanbei are indeed impressive. Unable to secure City Lord’s visit, I’ve come myself.”
