Chapter 105: Elvis Is My Legal Husband
Divine, burdened by obesity, had few true friends and felt the weight of others' gossip. Olive's words brought her to tears. Her lips trembled, speechless.
Olive, understanding, caressed Divine's hands. "Divine," she said, "I never thought Greg was right for you. But it's normal for young people to make mistakes in love. Consider this a learning experience. Use the humiliation Greg inflicted as motivation to care for yourself. Go home and take care. I look forward to seeing you happier. I love you." She smiled warmly.
"I love you too, Olive," Divine whispered, hugging her. "Thank you so much. I will."
Olive gently patted Divine's back as she wept, releasing her low self-esteem.
Upstairs, Marvin, a frequently sleeping young man, watched them from his trouser pockets. The cool breeze ruffled his curly hair. He was undeniably cold and arrogant.
His subordinate whispered, "Second Young Master, that's Olive, the new bride at the Red Villa. She's the eldest Young Master's wife—your sister-in-law."
Marvin remained silent.
The subordinate continued, "Second Young Master, Mother wants you home. Considering your age and the Crystal family's interest…" He stopped, noticing Marvin's inattention.
Hudson disliked Olive. Even having passed her initial evaluation, he doubted her background.
After Divine left the pharmacy, Olive said to Director Hudson, "Let's go, sir."
"Olive, do you know whose granddaughter Divine is?" Hudson asked abruptly.
"Whose granddaughter?" Olive replied, genuinely unaware.
Hudson had assumed Olive knew Divine's identity, explaining her kindness. But her clear, honest eyes revealed her ignorance.
He mumbled, "Forget it. Let's discuss your issue in the office."
In the office, Hudson stared at Olive. "Olive, you're married to the Red Villa family, correct?" Olive nodded. "Is the photo circulating online real? Are you with Elvis Augustine?"
Olive nodded. "Yes."
Hudson frowned. "Olive, you're married, yet involved with Elvis Augustine, a prominent Los Angeles figure. Many women wouldn't resist such a man. I understand the temptation, but…" He paused for breath. "I shouldn't interfere in your personal life, but speculation about your relationship with President Augustine will damage our school's reputation."
"Director Hudson, what do you intend to do?" Olive asked calmly.
"I'm struggling. Everyone wants you out of the Ivory Council, but it's not that simple. Your admission wasn't due to Mr. Augustine; the Dean nominated you. What's your relationship with the Dean?"
Olive furrowed her brow. "Director Hudson, I don't know the Dean well, but we've met a few times. He once gave me his number, suggesting I call if I wanted to join the Ivory Council, saying the door was always open."
Hudson scoffed incredulously. The Dean, a national scholar with significant contributions to medicine, wouldn't say that. "Olive, you're young. Who do you think you are?"
Olive shrugged. She couldn't do anything if he didn't believe her. Hudson found her nonchalance unsettling.
"Olive, I'll call the Dean and expose your lies!"
Olive calmly waited. Hudson dialed the Dean's number, certain her composure would crumble.
The Dean answered. "Hello, Director Hudson."
"Sir, something's happened with Olive…"
"Olive?" The Dean interrupted. "Is she with you? Let me speak with her."
Hudson was stunned by the Dean's concern. He considered the possibility of Olive being his daughter.
Hudson handed the phone to Olive. "Hello, good morning, sir."
"Olive, how are you?" The Dean asked warmly. Hudson had never heard him so gentle.
Olive nodded. "I'm fine, sir. Thank you."
"The Ivory Council is fortunate to have you, my dear Olive. I don't mind 'worshipping' you, even if it's embarrassing for a teacher to say so." The Dean laughed.
Hudson was frozen. He couldn't comprehend a national scholar worshipping a student.
"Olive, consider my offer," the Dean added. Olive chuckled, "Okay, sir."
Hudson was dumbfounded.
"By the way," the Dean continued, "was Director Hudson about to tell me about your 'relationship scandal' with President Augustine?"
Hudson started to defend himself, but Olive calmly said, "Don't worry, Dean. Elvis Augustine is my legal husband."
