Chapter 116: Husband

Olive felt sweet. She'd realized Elvis was good at coaxing. Pamela had already opened the door. Seeing the screen, she started walking toward it.

“Mr. Augustine, why are you here? What are you doing?”

As Pamela neared the screen, Olive, frightened, quickly pinched Elvis. He felt a tickle. Compared to Olive's nervousness, Elvis remained calm, his handsome face impassive. He simply said, "Stop!"

Pamela halted, afraid to move closer.

"I'm here with an urgent document," Elvis said indifferently. "Is there something you need?"

Pamela found it difficult to even look at Elvis, let alone be near him. Now that she was in the same room, her heart pounded.

Summoning her courage, she asked, “Mr. Augustine, did you and Olive break up?”

Behind the screen, Elvis looked at Olive, who nodded vigorously. He was silent a moment, then pointed to his cheek, indicating a kiss. Olive, needing his compliance, stood on tiptoe and kissed his face.

"Yes, we broke up," Elvis replied to Pamela.

Pamela was thrilled. "President Augustine," she said quickly, "I've always wanted to tell you something. You're not suitable for Olive. She's always had a boyfriend; my parents failed to discipline her. She was only with you for your money; she didn't really like you." She paused, but he didn't respond.

"Mr. Augustine, from the first day I saw you, I fell deeply in love. But I know we're in different worlds, and I'm not up to your standard. I've been trying to improve myself, and I've stayed true to you all these years. My heart truly beats for you, my love." Pamela paused for breath.

"While you and Olive were together, I could only hide my feelings. But now that you've broken up, I don't want to suppress them anymore. President Augustine, I like you. Please give me a chance."

Olive was surprised by Pamela's confession, almost moved by it. She looked at Elvis, wanting to see his reaction, but he remained silent and inattentive.

"Mr. Augustine, are you listening?" Pamela asked.

His continued silence made her suspicious.

Olive quickly clenched her fist and punched Elvis.

"Are you deaf?"

Elvis raised a thin lip and murmured, "Call me your husband."

Was he taking advantage of the situation? Pamela, outside, grew more anxious.

"Mr. Augustine, are you okay? Should I come in?"

She slowly approached the screen. Olive's heart pounded. Nervously, she whispered, "Hello?"

Elvis remained unmoved, repeating, "Call me your husband." Terrified, Olive mumbled, "My husband." A sweet smile touched his lips. He kissed her forehead, then, seemingly satisfied, released her and left.

Pamela stopped as he stepped out, looking at him tenderly.

"Mr. Augustine, did you hear what I said?"

He put his hand in his pocket and said casually, "I'll give it some thought."

Though he didn't immediately agree, Pamela was happy. She smiled cheerfully.

"I'll await your reply. There's one more thing: it's Olive's and my birthday in a few days—we share the same birthday. My parents are throwing a party for both of us, and I'm inviting you."

"Alright," Elvis replied coldly.

Pamela was surprised by his ready agreement.

"Mr. Augustine, thank you. I'm so happy."

Elvis glanced at her. "Just be happy. I'll give you a surprise on your birthday."

Surprise? What surprise? Happiness filled Pamela's life.

The Hart family: Monica jumped from the sofa.

"Pamela, President Augustine really broke up with Olive? And he's coming to your party?"

Pamela smiled. "Mom, it's true."

"Awesome! You share birthdays. He'll definitely celebrate! The media will love this!" Monica squealed.

"Pamela, with a little more effort, you'll marry Elvis and become the young mistress of the Augustine family!" Monica daydreamed.

Patrick was elated. He pulled Pamela onto the sofa and gave her a thumbs-up.

"Pamela, you're my daughter! I'm so proud. I know I can always count on you."

Pamela enjoyed the praise.

"Dad, Olive and my birthday party will be a sensation! President Augustine will be there, so you should invite Olive's 'ghost' husband. Wouldn't that be fun?"

Monica's eyes lit up. "Pamela, that's a great idea! Your father and I will invite him today."

Patrick reluctantly agreed, driven by Pamela's happiness and his own ambition.

They arrived at the Red Villa. The gate remained closed, so they waited. A maid informed the old lady.

"Ma'am, the young mistress's parents are here. They're throwing a birthday party and inviting the young master."

Old Lady Samantha quickly stood from her rattan chair, turning to Mr. Henry. He shuddered, looking at her pitifully.

"Please, Ma'am."

"Go meet them," she ordered.
