Chapter 129: Married to a Very Powerful Man
Olive opened her social media account. Gwen had posted a picture of Pamela in a hospital bed. Pamela lay in the hospital gown, her hands attached to an IV drip. She remained in a coma.
The internet buzzed again. Pamela and Olive's drama played out like a series, captivating online audiences.
"Pamela was trembling with fear from the online ridicule!" "Pamela, please take care of yourself. We're always here for you!" "I'm not a Pamela fan, but the humiliation she's endured these past few days is excessive."
Pamela's fans commented.
"Olive can do no wrong. She single-handedly defeated the Hart family, and now she's taken on the almighty Pamela. Pass the crown—she's the real queen!" Olive's fans retorted.
Pictures of Pamela kneeling before the Ivory Council also went viral, along with screenshots of Olive's fans' threatening comments.
"Oh, Olive actually forced Pamela to kneel in public!" "Mrs. Augustine is extremely powerful. No one should dare offend her." "How could Olive's fans be so vicious and threaten to [Content removed due to potentially offensive nature] Pamela?"
Pamela's fans posted angry comments, many even changing their profile pictures to the image of Pamela kneeling before Olive. Soon, "Mrs. Augustine" became synonymous with malice and sarcasm.
Olive anticipated the backlash. When Pamela knelt, she knew it was a strategic move. Now, however, internet support overwhelmingly favored Pamela.
Olive's phone beeped, signaling a message from North.
"Olive, they're all envious and jealous. Don't mind them."
"Don't worry, North. Their words don't affect me," Olive replied.
"What's your next move? Your orphanage background and medical talent easily garnered public sympathy, unlike Pamela's."
Olive understood. Compared to Pamela, her background made her appear more vulnerable and relatable.
"Don't worry, Pamela has more tricks up her sleeve. Let's wait and see."
Immediately after replying, Olive's phone rang. It was Elvis. He'd likely seen the social media uproar.
Olive answered sweetly, "Hello, Mr. Augustine. Do you need something?"
Elvis's low, magnetic voice responded, "Need my help?"
His words were simple yet powerful and commanding. Olive blinked and feigned anger.
"Mr. Augustine, look at the trouble you've caused! They're attacking me because of you. It's best you do nothing—don't make more enemies."
Elvis lowered his voice, murmuring adoringly, "Mrs. Augustine is amazing. In bed and out of it."
Olive's eyes widened, remembering their intimate moments. She felt embarrassed by her longing for his embrace.
"Mr. Augustine, don't be crude!" Olive interrupted.
"Then, if you need help, call me. I'll make those talking about you kneel and beg for mercy."
Olive felt happy. She realized she'd married a very powerful man.
Pamela remained hospitalized for three months. Public opinion continued to shift, but Olive remained unfazed, continuing her normal routine. She refined a toxin from the mandala flower at the research institute and prepared to test it.
Pamela posted: "The storm has passed. I'm so happy today. Professor Ruger has arrived in Los Angeles." She included a picture of herself at the airport.
The post received a million likes in minutes. The comments exploded:
"The talented medical girl is back!" "Pamela, focus on your career, forget about love!" "Now I wonder where Olive will hide her face. She's just a high school graduate—no match for our talented Pamela!" "Olive, I think Pamela's next move is to claim the 'Most Talented Medical Girl' award. Holy Nile Academy—Pamela's alma mater—is a medical powerhouse. Olive, do you know Professor Ruger?" North's message read.
A smile touched Olive's lips. She knew Pamela aimed to overshadow her by winning the award.
Olive chuckled and replied, "No, I don't know him."
"Oh my, Olive, you're in trouble."
"However," Olive added, "I'm an old acquaintance of the Holy Nile Academy principal."
"Olive, tell me everything! You're giving me a panic attack!"
"He actually offered me admission, but I declined."
"What?!"
"I was fifteen, and I didn't want to be far from home."
