Chapter 15: Severely Punish Olive?
As soon as Olive spoke, the audience gasped. What was she doing? She'd used a gold needle to seal an acupoint on the old woman! A high school graduate from the countryside, daring to take credit for something she hadn't done?
Monica retorted sharply, "Olive, do you have any idea what you're doing?"
Patrick, recovering from the shock, realized Olive had been calm all day, patiently waiting for the interview to unleash her accusations. He was furious. "Olive, are you serious? I know you resent me, Pamela, and the Hart family, but is this warranted? You're constantly stealing from Pamela. She rescued the old lady, and now you're claiming credit! How shameless!"
The host and staff were equally incredulous. "Olive," one said, "it seems you had a sinister motive for this interview." Another added, "Pamela, a top student from Holy Nile Academy, is believable. But you, Olive? Where did you learn acupuncture?" A third exclaimed, "Olive, you're embarrassing yourself in front of eighty million people!"
No one believed her, but Olive wasn't surprised. A smile played on her lips. "Believe it or not," she said, "it doesn't change the fact that I saved Mrs. Robert."
Olive looked at Pamela, whose heart pounded in her chest. Pamela quickly composed herself. How could it be Olive? Just a high school graduate?
Pamela was secretly thrilled that everyone was reprimanding Olive. She found Olive's actions incredibly stupid. "Olive," Pamela said sadly, "why are you doing this? Please stop lying. I saved the old lady."
Suddenly, someone rushed in. "Mrs. Robert is in ICU. She's sick again! Her heartbeat is failing, and she's close to another coma. Pamela, Director Hudson wants you there immediately to perform another acupuncture procedure."
Pamela felt a surge of triumph. This was her chance to shine! "Olive," she said, "if you think I didn't save her, come to ICU and watch me."
In ICU, Mrs. Robert was unconscious, her heartbeat erratic. Director Hudson rushed to Pamela. "Pamela, thank goodness you're here! Mrs. Robert is critical. Perform the acupuncture immediately."
Before Pamela could act, Monica intervened. "Director Hudson, you don't know what happened in the studio. Olive slandered Pamela, claiming she saved the old lady. Even though she's family, she should be severely punished for this lie!"
Director Hudson's expression hardened. "Olive, what's wrong with you? How did you save her? After Pamela treats Mrs. Robert, I will punish you severely!"
Pamela, focusing on the patient, said, "Director Hudson, don't worry about this now. Saving a life is the priority. I'll treat Mrs. Robert."
Pamela took a gold needle and looked at Olive. "Olive, watch carefully."
Pamela skillfully pierced Mrs. Robert's acupoint. Olive watched, surprised. Pamela's technique was exactly like her mother's! How could Pamela know her mother's acupuncture?
After Pamela's procedure, Mrs. Robert's heartbeat stabilized. Hudson was amazed. "Pamela, your skills are exceptional! I doubt anyone in the institute can match you."
Monica beamed with pride. As Pamela prepared a second injection, she glanced at Olive. "Olive, this is the gold needle. I'll show you again."
Olive looked directly at Pamela. "Pamela, who taught you this technique? It's identical to my mother's!"
Pamela hesitated. Her knowledge came from the first volume of Olive's mother's medical book. Olive saw the panic on Pamela's face. She was sure Pamela had her mother's book!
"Pamela," Olive said, "my mother was a genius, but her techniques are dangerous if used incorrectly. And you used the needle incorrectly."
Monica quickly interjected, "Olive, don't be alarmist! Director Hudson, she's trying to sabotage Pamela!"
Director Hudson snapped, "Olive, be quiet, or I'll have you removed!"
Pamela, disturbed by Olive's words, proceeded cautiously with the second needle. Soon, Mrs. Robert's heartbeat normalized. She was saved!
Monica glared at Olive. "Olive, what else do you have to say?"
Olive shook her head. "Remember what I said. The old lady's life is at stake!"
