Chapter 161: Money Is Not Short, But Links Are Lacking

In the livestream next door, Pamela stared at her phone, feeling a panic attack coming on. A lawyer's letter? She'd never imagined having to repay the $1.2 million. It was long gone. How would she possibly pay it back? She felt as if she'd plummeted from a podium into prison. This livestream was turning into a public humiliation. Olive was insufferably arrogant, and Elvis enabled her lifestyle.

"Pamela, what's going on?" Gwen asked, stunned and helpless. She could only stare at Pamela.

Pamela's face was ashen.

"Pamela, look! North's livestream has surpassed ours. Our viewership has plummeted! Everyone's going to North's!" Gwen whispered sadly.

Pamela glanced at the screen. Their viewers had dwindled to a handful—perhaps a quarter of North's.

A knock sounded. Patrick rushed in.

Pamela excused herself from Gwen and went to meet him.

"Pamela, what's happening? Why is Olive demanding the $1.2 million back? What does she mean? The money's gone!" Patrick panicked.

"Dad, how did you spend the $1.2 million?"

Patrick sneered. "Didn't I invest in Hart Medical? It was a disastrous investment; I lost everything."

Pamela was furious. Patrick was infuriating.

"Dad, Augustine Corporation sent me a lawyer's letter. If I don't repay the money, there will be legal consequences," Pamela explained.

Patrick was reeling. One minute he was celebrating, treated with respect; the next, he owed a massive debt. The $1.2 million, once a source of joy, was now a symbol of humiliation. Since Olive's return to LA, the Harts had faced one crisis after another.

"I'll call Olive. I need to understand what she wants," Patrick said, grabbing his phone and calling Olive.

The call connected. Olive's voice chirped, "Hello, President Hart, how can I help you?"

"Olive, the $1.2 million given to Pamela by President Augustine—I spent it all. There's nothing left. Stop this. Get President Augustine to withdraw the lawyer's letter. We're family. Don't make a big deal out of this!"

"Mr. Hart, if you want me to withdraw the case, you must return the medical book my mother left me!" Olive stated.

Pamela snatched the phone. "Olive, what are you talking about? What medical book?"

"Pamela, don't pretend. Your father admitted to giving you my mother's medical book. I have it on recording, just in case you want to hear it."

Pamela looked at Patrick. "Dad, did you tell Olive you gave me the medical book?"

Pamela clutched her phone, silent. Her ploy had failed.

"Pamela, my mother's medical book has been with you all these years. And let me remind you, without proper training, it's useless to you. But that's your business. Return the book, or repay the $1.2 million. I await your decision!" Olive hung up.

Pamela was furious, tempted to smash her phone. The medical book was her life's foundation, her most treasured possession. She couldn't return it. But what about the $1.2 million? She was trapped. Her big day had been utterly ruined by Olive!

In the livestream, North looked at Olive. "Olive, you're brilliant! You used the $1.2 million to get Pamela to hand over the medical book. That's insane!"

Olive pursed her lips. "I had to deal with those fools. Now they have no choice but to return the book."

North gave Olive a thumbs-up. Her livestream was to sell her merchandise.

"North, what are you selling?" Olive asked.

North pointed to large suitcases. "Clothes, jewelry, shoes, bags—everything's for sale."

Olive was astonished at the sheer volume of items. "When do you plan to sell them?"

North tilted her head. "I'm not sure. The sooner, the better."

Olive gave North a thumbs-up. Fashion was North's forte. She was always the first to wear the latest international brands and was LA's ambassador for Milan Fashion Week. If Raven hadn't canceled her schedule, she wouldn't be livestreaming.

North quickly changed into a white suspender dress and black coat (estimated value: $500–$600). Her algae-green hair was tied back, revealing her bright face and captivating eyes.

She greeted her fans. "Hi, cuties! Welcome to my livestream. First, let me introduce my outfit…"

"OMG! North's finally here!"

"No introduction needed! We want to buy it!"

"This outfit is gorgeous! I have the money, but I can't find the link to buy it!"
