Chapter 190: The Operation Was Successful
Divine was the most excited. Her friend had suddenly become a famous, talented girl. It was a wonderful experience for her! Divine rubbed Olive's face and called out happily, "My pride! Make me proud, okay?"
Olive's face arched into a smile. The Ivory Council had become a warm and welcoming family to her. Everyone spoke to her with respect and kindness. Olive nodded firmly. "Thank you, Divine. I will definitely try my best."
Marvin stood in the corner, watching Olive being admired. She had only been at the Ivory Council for a few months, but she had already won everyone's heart.
Dean Sebastian clapped his hands to get Olive's attention. "Alright, everyone, it's time for the surgery. Marvin, Olive, it's time for you both to enter the operating room. Madam Robert is awaiting you!"
"Okay, sir." Olive clutched her notepad, waved goodbye to everyone, and walked to the operating room with Marvin.
At the entrance, Derrick, the crown prince, was leaning against the wall, waiting for them. When he saw Olive, he swiftly greeted her, "Hello, good morning."
Olive ignored him and headed straight into the operating room. Derrick had never been ignored in his life. He walked up to Olive and blocked her path. "Hello, ugly girl, I was talking to you."
"Oh, it was you? I'm really sorry. I thought someone was yelling incessantly," Olive replied, and walked inside.
Concerned about the surgery's success, Derrick tried to remain calm, though he was skeptical of Olive's medical abilities. "Ugly girl, I don't know why my grandmother chose you to be her doctor, but you can't afford any mistakes. If the operation fails, do you know the consequences? I will have someone—"
Before Derrick could finish his sentence, Olive raised her right hand and slapped him hard across the face.
Silence fell over the ward. The bodyguards in black stared at Olive in shock. What was she doing? Did she know who she had just hit? How dare she hit the crown prince?
Derrick was also stunned. He hadn't seen that coming. No one except his grandmother had ever dared to raise a finger at him. Was Olive crazy?
Olive withdrew her hand. She looked at Derrick with a clear gaze. "Please be more polite to me in the future." She walked into the operating room and shut the door firmly.
Later
Once Derrick regained consciousness, he jumped up and exclaimed, "Damn, this girl is wild! I need to tame her!"
Marvin and Olive entered the operating room. The tumor on Mrs. Robert's brain was quite dangerous; the operation's success rate was estimated at no more than ten percent. It was a huge sensation worldwide.
The operation lasted eight hours, from early morning until evening. The red light in the operating room remained on, and no one emerged.
At six o'clock in the evening, as night fell, the operating room door finally opened. Olive walked out, still wearing her white coat.
Dean Sebastian, Director Hudson, Divine, and many others quickly gathered, but Derrick was faster, approaching Olive before them. "Ugly girl, how was the surgery? How is my grandmother doing?" he asked nervously.
Olive removed her medical mask. Sweat beaded on her forehead. Amidst the anticipation, she smiled. "The operation was successful!"
Everyone cheered in disbelief. The surgery, predicted to fail by the medical community, had been a success! Derrick's anger towards Olive vanished. "Ugly girl, you're really lucky. Thank your lucky stars."
Before he could say anything else, Olive's legs wobbled, and she slumped to the ground.
"Hey!" Derrick was startled. He rushed to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, preventing her from falling. The moment his hands touched Olive, he froze. Her body was thin and extremely soft. He had hugged many girls, but never anyone so soft.
Divine scurried forward and took Olive from Derrick's arms. She helped Olive sit on a chair in the hallway. Once Olive was seated, she asked nervously, "Olive, are you okay?"
Dean Sebastian chuckled softly. "The operation took a long time; Olive's exhausted. Just get her a glass of water, she'll be fine."
The operating room door creaked open as a nurse wheeled out Mrs. Robert, still asleep. She was fine and was wheeled back to her ward.
Derrick looked at Olive, then at his grandmother. Marvin was the last to leave the operating room. After eight hours, his white coat was still clean and spotless.
"You did well today, Doctor Hart," he muttered to Olive in a cold, yet proud tone.
Olive rested for a while and regained her strength. "Academician Augustine, you were great today as well." They had first cooperated on the streets of Imperial two years ago, and once again, they had performed a successful surgery.
"Marvin, Olive, you both are amazing! Let's pack up. I'm treating everyone to dinner tonight!" Dean Sebastian announced excitedly.
The students cheered, "Long live Olive! Long live Academician Augustine!"
The Rolls-Royce Phantom slowly stopped at the Ivory Council. Elvis had arrived to pick up Olive. He was already aware of the surgery's success, as media reporters had rushed to capture the moment.
The passage has been cleaned up for grammar, punctuation, and clarity. Some phrasing was slightly altered to improve flow and natural language. The time stamps and other extraneous numbers have been removed as they appear to be unrelated to the narrative. The word "gla*s" has been assumed to mean "glass" and corrected.
