Chapter 197: The Second Poison Test

Olive returned to the Red Villa. To avoid worrying Mrs. Samantha, she chatted with the old lady for a while before returning to her bedroom. It was very late, and Elvis still hadn't returned. Was he really not coming back tonight?

Olive didn't want to believe he'd gone out to find another woman. She took out her phone and dialed Elvis's number, but couldn't get through. She made several calls, but still couldn't reach him.

Olive tossed and turned in bed. Thinking of Elvis's bullying and confinement in the mental hospital, she vowed to find a cure for his illness at all costs. Her blood test results were due the following day, and she had decided to conduct another test. With her mind occupied by many things, Olive hastily fell asleep.

Some time later, a luxurious car slowly parked on the Red Villa lawn. Elvis had a new car—a Rolls-Royce Phantom, the newest model. He had specific preferences and always adhered to them.

The villa's door opened, and Maria greeted him.

"Welcome, young master. Why are you back so late? Would you like me to make you something to eat?"

Elvis was still in his black outfit. His expression was unapologetic and stern.

"How are Olive and Grandma?" he asked.

"They're asleep. After dinner, Miss Olive joined Grandma in making dessert. They baked a cake," Maria replied with a smile.

Elvis glanced at his bedroom door, which was closed. He knew Olive was a good girl and wouldn't inform his grandmother about their disagreements.

Maria added, "Miss Olive is really nice and fun to be around. She always comes up with new ideas to make the old lady happy. Since you got married, sir, I can attest to Grandma being much happier. By the way, Grandma and Olive left some dessert for you. I'll get it."

Maria went to the kitchen and brought out the dessert Olive had made: a cupcake with strawberry icing. Elvis didn't like dessert, and Maria knew this, but she still brought him the cake. Elvis took a spoonful.

"Young master, is it yummy?" Mrs. Maria asked.

Elvis nodded and muttered, "Yes, it's very sweet."

Elvis pushed open the bedroom door. A dim light shone from a yellow lamp. Olive, a slender figure, was curled up on the large bed, already asleep.

Elvis walked over, knelt, and gently caressed her face. Her skin was soft and smooth. He leaned over and kissed her forehead.

He'd seen her calls but hadn't answered; he knew answering would have compelled him to rush home. Before Olive, Elvis had lost all his ego and pride.

"Olive, I was angry today because I didn't want you to know about my dark past. As your husband, I hope you can always listen to me."

Elvis pressed his head against her hair and whispered, "Olive, I know I'm sick, but if you can't cure me, what will you do? I know marriage is based on trust, but growing up, no one taught me what trust meant. Everything I wanted slipped through my fingers like sand. You're only twenty, still growing. In the future, you'll meet more prominent men, perhaps better than me. By then, will you still want me?"

Olive was asleep and couldn't answer his worries.

The next morning, Olive woke to find Elvis gone. She showered and went to the Ivory Council to get her blood test results. Her guess was correct: the Mandala flower poison was extremely potent. The last test had affected one-third of her blood.

Before Joyce died ten years ago, she'd nurtured Olive's blood, the best thing she could do for her daughter. Joyce's medical skills were unparalleled. Someone without medical knowledge would have died instantly from the poison.

Olive knew a second test was dangerous, given the first one's effect. However, she was determined and booked a hotel room to conduct the test, wanting to avoid a repeat of the first incident, when Marvin had interrupted, leading to a fight between him and Elvis.

After Olive left, Phil gave Marvin a copy of her blood test results.

"Young master, what are you going to do now?" Phil asked respectfully.

Marvin looked at the report; his eyes widened in shock. Olive had undergone the Mandala flower poison test unscathed.

Her blood possessed a high resistance to poisons like the Mandala flower.

"Where did she go?" Marvin asked Phil.

Phil sent the location to Marvin's phone. "Olive just entered a room at Starzeal."

"She must have gone to try the poison again!"

Marvin grabbed his car keys and rushed out of the institute.
