Chapter 199: Push Her Away
In the hotel room, Marvin hugged Olive quietly. The door burst open. Marvin looked up and met Elvis's narrow, deep gaze. Elvis stood in the doorway, his hawk-like eyes sweeping the room. Olive hugged Marvin tightly, and Marvin held her shoulders.
Elvis scoffed and stepped forward. He grabbed Olive's arm and pulled her toward him. Olive's body slammed into Elvis's firm chest, causing her to wince. Looking up, she saw Elvis's gloomy face, and her consciousness quickly returned.
"Mr. Augustine…"
Elvis lowered his eyes to look at her. His thin lips curled sarcastically.
"What? Surprised to see me? Did I disturb you?"
Olive looked at Elvis, then at Marvin. Only then did she realize she was clinging to the wrong person.
"Mr. Augustine, I…" she began, but her words failed her.
"Where's your mask?" Elvis interrupted.
Olive touched her face. The mask was gone; Marvin had removed it. Olive was speechless and confused.
"Why don't you say something? I'm awaiting your explanation."
Olive looked at him. Elvis's gaze was piercing and cold, seeming to see right through her, yet his face remained impassive. Olive knew Elvis's wrath was a terrifying sight.
Marvin spoke.
"Don't make it difficult for her. I can explain everything you need to know."
"Oh, okay. I kinda forgot you were still here. My bad." Elvis dragged Olive into the bathroom and locked the door.
Olive quickly knocked. "Why are you locking me in here? Mr. Augustine, let me out! I can explain everything to you!"
Elvis ignored her. He stepped forward and grabbed Marvin by the collar.
"I'm giving you a chance to speak."
"To be honest, it's just as you saw."
Elvis let out a low laugh.
"Why should I believe you?"
Marvin was silent for a moment, then said, "Olive's blood is very special."
"Her mother treated her with many medicinal herbs while she was alive. I know that," Elvis interjected.
Chapter 159: Push Her Away
Marvin nodded understandingly.
"Then, do you know the mandala flower? The mandala flower is rumored to be between life and death. It is extremely poisonous and very hard to find."
"Say something useful!" Elvis interrupted impatiently.
"Olive wants to use the mandala to heal you. She was testing the medicine," Marvin added.
Elvis's pupils constricted. He tightened his grip on Marvin's collar, pressing him against the wall.
"What the fuck are you saying?" he demanded incredulously.
"Olive was testing the medicine. The first time was the night you beat me up at the pharmacy. She passed out in my arms. This is her second time. The poison made her lose her reasoning; she mistook me for you," Marvin explained, swallowing hard.
Elvis's heart clenched, and his breathing became labored.
Marvin reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper with Olive's equation on it.
"Elvis, Olive is risking her life for you. She doesn't mind dying to save you!"
Elvis released Marvin and stepped back. He'd initially heard a rumor that Olive was refining medicines, but he'd ignored it. He didn't know she'd actually tried the mandala flower poison!
Was she crazy?
"Elvis, I can guarantee you that Olive can only take that poison one more time. If she tries it more than three times, her life will certainly end. So please, Elvis, before she considers a third attempt, push her away from your life. Only then will she use her brain, not her heart. Push her away so she can stay alive," Marvin pleaded earnestly.
Olive remained locked in the bathroom, knocking repeatedly but getting no response. She wondered what the two men were doing.
Though conscious, Olive was still pale. Her body swayed, and she almost fell, quickly grabbing the washstand. She closed her eyes, then opened them again.
The bathroom door opened, and Elvis entered. Olive looked up and saw a tall, handsome figure silhouetted in the doorway. He removed his black coat and draped it over her shoulders. He carried her out of the hotel and into the passenger seat of his Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Elvis drove. The car sped smoothly down the road in silence. Elvis gripped the steering wheel, his gaze fixed on the road. He said indifferently,
"You're aware that Marvin likes you, right?"
