Chapter 38: The Engagement Party
In the presidential suite, Elvis took a cold shower and emerged wearing black silk pajamas. Raven handed him a glass of red wine.
"I'm still wondering how Olive changed your mood from gloomy to sunny," Raven said.
Elvis took a sip. "Is it that obvious I'm happy?"
Raven leaned on the table. "You don't even have to say it. It's written all over your face."
Elvis admitted he was in a good mood. Olive's jealousy over a phone call—shouldn't that make him happy? The doorbell rang.
It was Andrew, who had rushed over after Elvis's call. He carefully observed Elvis's face. "CEO, what's the matter?"
Elvis sat on the sofa. "Secretary Andrew, Rita answered my call. Why didn't you tell me?"
Andrew realized his CEO was upset. It was just a phone call; he hadn't thought it significant.
"CEO, is anything wrong? Did she overhear any trade secrets?" Andrew looked frightened.
Raven, also on the sofa, looked at Elvis. "It was just a phone call, bro. Olive shouldn't be mad about it."
Andrew was stunned. In his impression, his CEO was a mature, handsome, and powerful man. His wife shouldn't be so strict.
The doorbell rang again. Andrew answered it. It was Rita.
As the public relations director, Rita was naturally beautiful and charming, with long wavy hair and a striking figure. She was hard to resist.
Andrew returned and closed the door. "Sir, Rita is here. She said she brought you some food."
Raven chuckled. "It's said a woman's intuition is the most accurate. It seems Olive's jealousy wasn't random."
Rita had brought Elvis food, knowing he'd been at the bar for two days. She clearly had feelings for him.
Elvis had never lacked female attention. Rita should have known better; Elvis wasn't emotionally invested.
"Hold on," Elvis said thoughtfully.
"Yes, President?" Andrew responded.
"Bring in the food and extend my gratitude to her."
"Yes, President," Andrew replied, heading back to the door.
Raven stared at Elvis. "Olive's jealousy isn't enough, huh? You still want to bring Rita closer? Are you trying to make Olive furious?"
Elvis leaned back on the sofa, swirling his glass gracefully. He liked seeing Olive jealous. Only then did she show her shrewdness and tenderness. If Rita hadn't made her jealous, she never would have opened her heart to him.
Chapter 38: The Engagement Party (continued)
Derrick and Gabriella's engagement party was to be held that night. Olive smiled and agreed to attend. She had prepared a special gift.
Old Mrs. Samantha approached her. "Olly, I'll be going to church to fast and pray. I might not be back for a few days. Call Elvis and tell him to come home to keep you company tonight."
"Okay, Grandma," Olive replied.
Mrs. Samantha left, and Olive took out her phone. She didn't actually want to call Elvis. After he'd left the presidential suite that night, he hadn't returned, and they hadn't spoken.
