Listen to this chapter:

Worried, I rubbed my forehead.

"Adrian Miller, I despise you," I murmured, frustrated.

He'd orchestrated this entire tactic to destroy my reputation. How could he spread such malicious gossip? Did he not care about his sweetheart? Or did he think she wouldn't find out?

A smirk touched my lips. I dialed a number.

"Hello?" a young woman answered.

"Where's your boss? Get her on the phone."

The woman was taken aback. "Who are you?"

"She knows me."

The woman gave the phone to her boss. I heard the voice I'd been waiting for.

"Who's speaking?"

"Your shameless boyfriend's ex-wife," I replied with a grin.

Lynda was silent for a moment. I assumed she couldn't believe I had her maid's number. After she'd proven me wrong in front of Adrian and his parents, I'd checked the number of the text message she'd sent. It was his maid's. She wasn't as clever as I thought; she hadn't told her maid to change the number. However, I didn't tell Adrian. I felt they deserved each other.

"Why are you calling?" Lynda asked, breaking the silence.

"I think you haven't seen the latest news."

"What news?"

"The news about your boyfriend canoodling with another woman."

"What nonsense! Why would he do that?"

I chuckled mockingly. "He said he wanted to make news with me."

"Impossible! He wouldn't. Not after the" she paused.

"Report? What report, Lynda?" I asked, shaking my head. It was obvious what she'd say.

"N-Nothing."

"Wait a minute. Are you talking about the altered DNA test? Let me guess—was that you?"

"Natalia, you have the audacity to accuse me! You have children with another man. Don't twist the truth."

Her words enraged me. "And yet, your boyfriend came to me last night. I think you don't satisfy him. That's why he wants—"

"How dare you!"

"Ask your boyfriend. My advice: hold onto him tight. Because if I get my claws in, you know—"

"Don't you dar—"

I hung up. Scoffing, I realized I had no intention of being with him again. I'd only terrified Lynda. No doubt she'd emotionally blackmail Adrian and keep him preoccupied. All I hoped for was that he'd never bother me again.

Throwing the phone on the bed, I went to shower. I didn't need to do anything about the news; I trusted Lynda would handle it.

After showering, I put on a beautiful white dress. I was visiting the pack.

Applying my makeup, I stared at the purple mark on my neck, reminding me of him.

I contacted Eric and Damia. Eric insisted we have breakfast first. We went to the restaurant in the hotel.

"Where did he take you? Why didn't you tell me last night?" Eric demanded, angry.

"I handled him. Don't worry," I said, eating.

"Jason said he'd teach him a lesson."

I paused. "Did you tell Brother Jason?"

"No, he saw the news."

I nodded slightly, averting my gaze. I couldn't stop the conflict anymore. He started it. I don't care how my brother handles him.

I didn't discuss Adrian with Eric. He told me he'd sent all the managers back to the Blue Blood Pack early that morning.

"Do you really want to tour the pack?" he asked, knowing I was upset about Adrian.

Damia lowered her head. I patted her hand and replied, "Yes, I do."

Damia shook her head, but I smiled reassuringly.

Eric had arranged a car. Once inside, he received a call from Jason. Surprise flickered across his face.

"I'm coming back. Don't worry," he said, hanging up.

Stunned, I worried about my children and parents. Were they okay?

Eric turned. "Something came up. I need to return to the Blue Blood Pack."

"What happened? Is everything alright?"

"Everything's fine. We have a pack meeting tomorrow. Jason needs me. I can't accompany you."
