Listen to this chapter:

"Go ahead," I told Harold, urging him to continue. A deep silence filled the room. My father and Patric's eyes were fixed on the screen, as if it displayed not a phone, but Harold himself. They were eager to discover the truth.

Harold's voice echoed as he began to speak.

"Alpha, I have reviewed all records and reports."

"So, what did you find?"

"Alpha, a girl named Lynda was indeed hospitalized at the pack hospital, but not on the day you mentioned. She was admitted the following day. Her right hand was badly broken. Upon arrival, her body was covered in numerous scars; she was in terrible condition. It seemed she had endured considerable pain."

When I heard Harold's report, I clenched my fists. The anger I had suppressed, the rage against the men who kidnapped me, surged back. How dare they hurt the woman who saved me? Where were they? If they were still alive, I would deliver a death they could never have imagined.

I glanced at my father, who appeared dazed. Sensing my gaze, he lifted his head.

Without breaking eye contact, I asked Harold, "Is there anything else?"

"Yes, she was an orphan. No one came to sign the paperwork as her family."

My father's eyes softened. I clenched my jaw, turning away. He shouldn't have raised this; it would haunt me again.

"Okay, I understand."

Just as I was about to hang up, Harold said, "One more thing, Alpha."

"What?"

"The former head doctor treated her personally. There's a note in her report."

"What does it say?"

As if reading the note aloud, Harold paused briefly before continuing.

"Her physical condition is fragile. Due to her broken hand, she couldn't use it for anything heavy or play any instrument."

I ended the call. I couldn't listen anymore. My chest burned with fury as I replayed that night in my mind. I shut my eyes, the memories flooding back. A low growl escaped my lips as I fought to push them away.

When I opened my eyes, I saw my father and Patric with their heads bowed, submitting to my growl. I sighed, trying to regain control.

"Did you hear Doctor Harold? Did you hear what she endured to save your son?"

My father raised his head, nodding as if realizing his mistake.

"Never doubt her again."

He averted his gaze, embarrassed. He should be. He not only hurt Lynda, but he also invaded my past and mocked the woman who risked her life for me.

Patric remained silent, his head still down. I walked past him, leaving the room. He followed, obediently.

Back in the living room, Patric informed my mother of Harold's report. My mother gasped, her eyes welling with tears as she considered Lynda's suffering.

Lynda rushed to me, sobbing. "No one believed me. But I knew you'd find the truth. Adrian, thank you for trusting me."

I patted her back. "I don't know how to repay you."

She shook her head. "You don't have to. Just be my life partner, stay close to me."

My hand stilled on her back. I clenched my fists, muttering in a low tone, "I can only promise you that I will punish those men—to death."
