Listen to this chapter:

Lynda didn't seem to hear me. She was quietly hugging me. I said nothing more. She needed rest; today had been too much for her.

My mother approached and stopped beside me. She reached out and stroked Lynda's hair. Lynda broke the hug and embraced my mother, weeping. My mother hugged her back, then looked at me sadly. After calming Lynda, she told her to stay in the pack house that night.

"Adrian," my mother said after Lynda left the living room.

"Mom, I don't want to talk about it anymore."

She nodded quietly. "Okay, my son."

I watched her go upstairs to her and my father's bedroom. My mind was a mess; I just wanted to calm down. Otherwise, the rage inside me felt like it would boil over.

Suddenly, I saw a maid emerging from the hallway near my children's room. She carried two plates of untouched food. Surprised to see me, she bowed her head.

"They don't want to eat, Alpha. I tried my best, but"

I realized I'd been too busy lately and hadn't given them much time, simply due to my workload. I'd also avoided their room because they didn't want to see me.

"Bring the plates."

The maid and Patric looked stunned. The maid quickly approached and handed me the plates.

I glanced at Patric. "Wait for me outside."

He nodded. I went to my children's room. I carried one plate, resting the other on my elbow. I opened the door.

The moment I entered and closed the door, they turned to look at me. Their happy expressions vanished. They weren't pleased to see me.

They were sitting on the bed, holding the tablet I'd given them. Seeing me look at it, they quickly clicked the screen and hid it under a pillow.

I shook my head and walked to the bed. "Why didn't you two eat dinner?" I asked, placing the plates on the bed.

"We don't want to," Noah said gloomily. Aria looked upset. I didn't want my princess to be sad.

I sat down, but they moved away. I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at them. Their behavior was hurting me. I'd come to them to calm myself, not to get angrier.

A ringtone echoed in the room. I knew immediately where it was coming from: the tablet under the pillow.

Aria and Noah's eyes widened in shock. Noah quickly grabbed the tablet and ended the call. He looked terrified, as if I were going to kill him. I raised my hand; he shut his eyes, fearing a beating.

I patted his hand. "What do you think of me? Did you think I didn't know you were contacting your mother?"
