Liana shook her head, disagreeing. "No, no. I can't let you go there."
I grabbed my bag and ID card from the shop and headed for the door. Liana grabbed my hand, stopping me. "Natalia, you don't have to do this for me. We will deal with the loss. Nothing is more important than a life."
She may have thought Adrian abused or would kill me, but she didn't know I could protect myself. "Don't worry," I said. "I'll be fine."
I left the shop and hailed a cab. Employees helped the van driver load the coffee. When the van started, I instructed the cab driver to do the same. Once the cab and van arrived at the pack company, I exited the cab.
I looked up at the tall, sky-touching building. Its power was evident; anyone would want to work there. It reminded me of my own pack company, where I had been CEO. I'd witnessed the power wielded by CEOs of such companies—their employees and the entire pack relied on them. A single decision could change lives entirely, just like my brother Jason's decision. Had I opposed him that day and given the deal to the Crystal Blood Pack, we might have avoided war.
I looked around as guards approached. "Miss?" one asked.
"Yes?"
"Are you from Moon Lovers' Coffee Shop?"
"Yes."
"Okay."
They helped the driver unload the coffee and entered the company, seemingly knowing where to deliver it. One guard then said, "The last case is in the car. Please take it and follow us."
"Oh, okay."
I grabbed the coffee case and followed them. Entering the company, I was awestruck. It was larger and more luxurious than my pack company; all the employees appeared busy. The guards led me to reception and then left.
I approached the counter and asked, "Where is Alpha?"
The woman looked stunned. "Excuse me? Who are you—" She stopped, recognizing me. Though Adrian never publicly revealed his wife, my post-divorce social media presence meant some pack members knew me.
"Do you have an appointment?" the receptionist asked, clearing her throat.
I showed her the coffee case. "Oh! Miss, you're from Moon Lovers' Coffee Shop."
"Yes."
"Please proceed to the top floor. Alpha has been notified of your arrival."
I sneered. He knew I'd never refuse Liana; he indirectly blackmailed me, I thought, heading for the elevator.
Reaching the top floor, I asked an employee, "Excuse me, where is Alpha Adrian?"
He pointed to a door. "He's in there."
I nodded my thanks and approached the door. He started to speak again, but I opened the door, assuming it was Adrian's office.
I was shocked. It was a meeting room. Several Alphas from different packs sat around a table. They turned to look at me as I entered, and I froze under their gazes. My eyes slowly found the powerful man seated at the head of the table.
