Listen to this chapter:

"Miss, we're here," a voice announced, accompanied by a knock.

I opened my eyes, then immediately squeezed them shut against the sudden light. Sitting up, I rubbed my eyes. Slowly, I opened them again, yawning. Turning to the window, I saw the driver standing outside. His presence surprised me.

As I lowered the window, he bowed. "Miss, we have arrived," he said.

Frowning, I looked to the other window. The car was parked outside the Crystal Blood Pack hospital. "What the hell!" I muttered.

I hadn't expected to be taken directly to the hospital. I'd planned to check into a hotel, freshen up, and then visit Alpha Lucas. Instead, here we were.

The driver looked nervous at my confusion. "Miss, is everything alright?" he asked.

"I was planning to stop at a hotel first," I replied.

"Sorry, Miss. Alpha Jason ordered me to take you directly to the hospital. He said you weren't carrying any clothes, so there was no need to stop."

I rubbed my head and sighed. My brother, not believing Adrian, had ordered the driver to return me to the Blue Blood Pack immediately. I understood his feelings; I wouldn't have allowed him to return to this pack either.

"Okay," I said.

Taking my phone from my bag, I checked my hair. It was messy from my nap, so I quickly combed it. The driver opened the car door. As I stepped out, I said, "I'll call when I need a ride back."

Looking at the pack hospital, a wave of memories washed over me. How could I forget the day I left? Before leaving, I'd made a promise to Doctor Harold to keep my secret safe.

"Doctor Harold," I murmured, thinking of his loyalty. He'd kept my secret, never betraying my trust. I longed to see him again and thank him for saving my life.

I looked for the flower shop I remembered, where people bought flowers for hospitalized loved ones. I decided to buy bouquets for Alpha Lucas.

After a short walk, I asked a man, "Excuse me, could you tell me where the flower shop is?"

"It's moved to that area," he replied, pointing.

"Thank you," I said, heading towards the indicated street. I didn't bother calling the driver.

The flower shop was beautifully furnished. I chose two bouquets—one for Alpha Lucas and one for Doctor Harold. Then, I saw the white stargazer lilies. Memories flooded back. After my wedding, Adrian's mother told me his favorite flower was the white stargazer. It was the first gift I'd given him, yet he'd made my life miserable ever since. He even claimed I could turn everything to ash with a touch.

"Madam," a woman called, bringing me back to the present.

"Huh?"

"Here are your bouquets," she said, handing them over.

I thanked her and paid. Leaving the shop, I went to the hospital reception.

"Is Doctor Harold available?" I asked.

The receptionist gave me an appraising, slightly insulting look. Her eyebrows shot up when she saw the bouquets. "Does Doctor Harold know you?" she asked.

"Yes, I'm an old friend."

"Let me check." She checked the schedule. "He's in surgery, but will be free in a few hours."

"Thank you," I said. "I'd also like to see Alpha Lucas. Could you tell me his room number?"

She frowned, picked up the phone, and began to dial.

"Who are you calling?" I asked.

"No one can see him without Alpha Adrian's permission. I'm calling him," she said curtly.
