Chapter 1011: Not Like That

Jack was about to enter the Damaris residence when he encountered his parents. "Dad, Mom, what are you doing here?"

Since proving his ability to manage the family business, Titus and Priscilla had been traveling for medical consultations. Their unannounced return surprised him. Priscilla frowned, shooting him a reproachful look. "I heard you're involved with Lucian's ex-wife."

They had evidently seen the online discussions and investigated Roxanne, discovering she had two children and was, in fact, Lucian's ex-wife. The prospect of their son dating a divorcee with children greatly displeased Priscilla.

Jack looked at his mother, puzzled. "How did you find out?" Priscilla's displeasure deepened at his lack of denial. "The online comments went wild! All our relatives are asking about it!"

Jack's confusion grew. "They know Roxanne is Lucian's—"

His mother interrupted. "We investigated! Do you want everyone to know you're seeing a divorcee?"

Priscilla's anger flared at his reaction. "I raised you, and I've never interfered in your private life. You can date whomever you want." She glared. "But why her? A divorcee with two children? And her ex-husband is from the Farwell family! You'll be the laughingstock of Horington!"

Jack's unrepentant grin only fueled Priscilla's anger, causing her to glare at Titus. Feeling his wife's pressure, Titus sighed. "Your mother's right. There are plenty of women. Why someone in our social circle?"

Both the Farwell and Damaris families were prominent in Horington. The implications of Jack's relationship were clear to Titus. His attempt at a stern reprimand, however, fell short. Jack's grin widened. Titus frowned. "Why are you smiling? This is serious!"

Jack sat down, a clear indication he had something to say. Priscilla and Titus exchanged glances before focusing on their son.

Jack began slowly, "You've got the wrong idea."

Perplexed, his parents stared at him. The online frenzy made their confusion understandable. "So, the photos are fake?" Priscilla asked.

Jack shook his head. "Of course not. But it's not what you think."

Titus and Priscilla remained suspicious. They had raised Jack, and never before had he shown such intimacy with a woman.
