Chapter 1012: What Exactly Are You Planning?

At a glance, Jack saw through his parents' skepticism. Exasperation washed over him. "Since you've investigated Ms. Jarvis, I'm sure you know she's an exceptionally accomplished doctor."

Titus and Priscilla offered no rebuttal. Their investigation had revealed Roxanne's status as Harvey's top studentโ€”a fact that affirmed her medical prowess. However, her being a divorced mother remained a stumbling block.

Jack realized their judgment was clouded by public opinion, and he sighed, beginning his explanation. "I assume you're both aware of the Damaris family's recent project?"

Titus and Priscilla nodded. Despite their infrequent presence at the Damaris residence, they remained informed about family matters.

Jack nodded, pleased. "Knowing about the project, you must also know Ms. Jarvis is involved."

Priscilla's face darkened. "I heard she obtained the opportunity byโ€ฆ" she began, the unspoken implication clear.

Jack interrupted sharply, "That's a baseless rumor. Didn't Jessica apologize?"

Priscilla's expression grew grimmer. Jessica had always been her ideal daughter-in-law, and this revelation was devastating. She remained silent.

Jack continued, "While I'm leading this project, Grandpa chose the collaborators. He selected Ms. Jarvis for her outstanding performance and personally discussed the collaboration with her."

Titus and Priscilla were surprised she'd passed Hector's scrutiny. He knows about Jack's interaction with her, then why didn't he intervene? they wondered.

Seeing their continued misinterpretations, Jack felt a headache coming on. Years of focusing on medicine had left them seemingly oblivious to other matters; they simply weren't inclined to consider other perspectives. This made his explanations incredibly difficult.

"The Damaris family, while a century-old medical dynasty, still has weaknesses. As the heir, dating isn't my priority, so you can rest easy," Jack patiently reassured them.

Finally, Titus and Priscilla began to consider his words. His usual demeanor suggested he wouldn't rush into a relationship. But if it's not romance, why the close connection? Larry would have been a suitable collaborator, Priscilla thought.

Priscilla, ever direct, demanded, "Then what exactly are you planning?"

A knowing smile touched Jack's lips. "You'll know in due time."

Titus and Priscilla were left bewildered, but Jack gave them no chance to press further.

"I'm going upstairs to report to Grandpa. You both should rest," he said, rising from the couch. "And don't listen to gossip about Ms. Jarvis and me."

Titus and Priscilla could only nod in resigned agreement.
