Chapter 1024: Do Not Turn Against Me
โWhat is it?โ Aubree asked, scowling. Frieda retrieved her phone and showed her several photos. The first showed a tent; nearby lay a white skirt.
The image revealed little else, but Aubreeโs face hardened. โI know the tent. Itโs the one Roxanne and those children set up that day. The white skirt is probably the one I wore.โ
The photoโs limited scope suggested a deliberate attempt to target her. A subsequent photo depicted Aubree herself, wearing the skirt and holding a white medicine bottle containing an unidentified substance. The series culminated with Aubree positioning somethingโpresumably bacteriaโbefore departing.
Aubreeโs expression darkened as she reached the last picture. โWhere did you get these?โ she demanded.
Frieda explained quickly, โI donโt know. Someone sent them to me yesterday with this text.โ She showed Aubree a message: โI know youโre good friends with Aubree Pearson. Show these photos to Ms. Pearson and tell her Iโll delete them if she pays me ten million. Otherwise, Mr. Farwell will receive them soon!โ
For days, Cory had avoided contacting Aubree, under surveillance by Lucianโs men. Yet, the lure of money proved too strong. Heโd eventually texted Frieda, hoping to ensure Aubreeโrather than Lucianโsaw the incriminating evidence.
โAubree, you know who sent this, right?โ Frieda asked cautiously.
Aubree gritted her teeth. โCory Zaythrone! I hired the best private investigator, only to discover heโs extorting his clients. I should have been more careful.โ
Seeing Aubreeโs rage, Frieda surmised she knew the sender. โDid you upset someone who then followed you? If not, how were these pictures taken?โ
Aubree, suppressing her fury, replied icily, โThis is the private investigator I hired to follow Roxanne!โ She added, almost as an afterthought, โFrieda has seen these photos; weโre in this together. I donโt mind telling you my plan.โ
Frieda stiffened, then realized Aubree had been ensnared. She couldn't believe someone had managed to trap her.
โWhat was in the bottle?โ Frieda asked curiously.
Aubree explained her plan, concluding, โI taught those children a lesson before, but they didnโt learn. So I decided to let them suffer again.โ
Something struck Frieda. โThe bacteria you asked me forโฆโ
Before she finished, Aubree interrupted, โYou guessed it! Weโre in this together, so donโt you dare turn against me!โ
