Chapter 1025: Will Reward You

Frieda froze at Aubree's words. Although she loathed Roxanne and her children, she never intended to harm Estella. To do so would mean incurring Lucian's wrath, a risk no one in Horington dared take. However, Aubree had unknowingly entangled her in her schemes. "What's the matter? Are you scared?" Aubree asked coldly. Frieda recovered.

Aubree was right. Regardless of her feelings, she was in the same predicament. Escape was impossible; her best course was to help Aubree become Lucian's wife. Once Aubree gained power, they could cover their tracks.

With that in mind, Frieda offered a nonchalant smile. "Since when have I ever been scared? Those little brats had it coming! Their insolence is to blame!"

Aubree stared silently, the tension palpable. Frieda strained to maintain her composure.

After a protracted silence, Aubree nodded. "That's more like it." Frieda then mentioned Cory's text message. "What should we do about the ten million? Do we really give it to him?"

Aubree's expression grew frigid.

While awaiting Aubree's response, Frieda continued, "He had the audacity to threaten you; we can't let this slide. I'm surprised he dared demand ten million from us!"

"What do you suggest?" Aubree asked with a chuckle.

"We mustn't pay him," Frieda replied. "Doing so might only provide him with more leverage against us!"

Aubree's face darkened. Frieda's assessment was plausible; Cory had betrayed her once and might attempt it again. However, she couldn't risk it.

"We'll pay him," Aubree muttered through clenched teeth. Frieda's eyes widened. "Aubree!"

"If we don't, those pictures reach Lucian tomorrow," Aubree said grimly. Frieda shuddered at the implications. "All right, but what if he betrays us?"

Private investigators are easily swayed by money.

Aubree's expression was icy. "After payment, we'll have someone track him and destroy the evidence."

Frieda, lacking a better plan, complied. "Understood. I'll arrange it immediately!"

Though disgusted, Aubree feigned affection, taking Frieda's hand.

Confused, Frieda froze.

Holding Frieda's hand, Aubree adopted a sincere expression. "Don't worry, Frieda. Once I marry into the Farwell family, I'll reward you for your help."

Frieda's panic subsided. She smiled confidently. "You're doing this for Lucian, so he'll come to like you."

Aubree felt a sharp pang of pain.

Despite her disgust and annoyance, Aubree managed a wry chuckle. "Let's hope so."

They conversed briefly. To prevent Cory's desperate betrayal, Frieda quickly departed to execute Aubree's instructions.
