Chapter 1066: A Coworker Sending Flowers

After breakfast, Roxanne, fearing the children might say something inappropriate, sent them outside to play. Jack remained in the living room. She cleaned the dining room, then sat beside him.

“The mother of Mr. Farwell’s daughter has always been a mystery,” Jack said abruptly, startling Roxanne. She couldn’t understand why he’d raised the subject.

Observing her expression, he continued, “If you didn’t already have two children, I would think you were the mother of his daughter.”

“That’s impossible! Don’t say such nonsense, Mr. Damaris,” Roxanne quickly denied.

“You two resemble each other. Or perhaps I’m overthinking it. Good-looking people often share similar features,” Jack smiled, his words ambiguous and suggestive.

Slightly furrowing her brow, Roxanne maintained her composure and changed the subject. “How was your medical consultation yesterday?”

Jack sensed her unease and held her gaze for a few seconds, making her uncomfortable. Fortunately, he complied with her unspoken wish and shifted the conversation.

The children, gathered at the mansion entrance, seemed unhappy. Estella frowned, staring at her brothers. “Does Mr. Damaris have a good relationship with Ms. Jarvis?”

The boys exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. They hesitated to reveal Jack’s potential rivalry with Lucian and his close relationship with Roxanne, fearing Estella's already volatile mood.

“Mommy said they’re colleagues,” Archie explained. “She’s been very busy lately, so they’ve been interacting more.”

Estella pursed her lips, skeptical. Why would a mere coworker send Ms. Jarvis flowers? Daddy had many colleagues, but never sent any of them flowers! She wondered about Roxanne’s conversation with Jack and why she’d sent them outside.

Her worry grew with each passing thought. Sensing Estella’s displeasure, the boys’ hearts sank. The three children stared at the entrance, filled with bitterness and resentment, wishing they could be with Roxanne to observe her interaction with Jack.

After a while, the boys decided to go inside. “Let’s go in now,” they suggested. However, turning around, they discovered Estella was gone.

“Essie?” Archie and Benny searched the courtyard. They found Estella crouching by Jack’s car, seemingly occupied with something. At the sound of their voices, she quickly finished her task, concealed her tools, and hid behind the car.

As Archie approached, she darted out. “Why are you here, Essie?” he asked, surprised. Estella hung her head, mumbling guiltily, “I… I just wanted to play hide-and-seek.”

Archie, noting her strange behavior but not dwelling on it, said, “If you want to play hide-and-seek, we can join you. But next time, tell us where you’re going.”

Estella nodded obediently.
