Chapter 1091

Aubreeโ€™s annoyance flared at her motherโ€™s complacent expression. โ€œSince Lucian no longer loves her, I have to become Mrs. Farwell. I want to be the lady of the house, and I want his heart!โ€ She longed for the affection heโ€™d shown her six years ago.

Gina nodded in agreement, her primary concern the Farwell-Pearson union.

Aubree, initially frustrated by her motherโ€™s unconcern, considered Estella. Everything sheโ€™d said to Lucian was calculated to elicit sympathy; she frankly lacked childcare experience. Gina, however, had raised her, surely possessing more expertise.

Smiling, Aubree pulled her mother to the couch. โ€œMom, I need to ask you something.โ€

โ€œWhat is it?โ€

Aubree frowned. โ€œHow do I interact with a child? Estella holds sway in this marriage. If she dislikes me, Lucian will end the engagement.โ€

The Pearsons understood this well. Lucian hadn't married Aubree in the past six years because Estella consistently rejected her. Theyโ€™d tried numerous approaches to gain Estellaโ€™s acceptance, all to no avail. Aubreeโ€™s attitude toward Estella had only worsened.

It's all that girl's fault!

Gina hesitated. โ€œEstella treats me much like she treated you. You were raised by a nanny; I have limited experience with children.โ€

Aubreeโ€™s expression darkened.

Gina quickly offered, โ€œTheyโ€™re kids. They like similar thingsโ€”food, toys. Just get her something she likes.โ€

Aubree dismissed this with a wave. โ€œForget it. Iโ€™ll figure it out myself.โ€ She stood and went upstairs.

Gina watched her daughter leave with anxiety and resignation. She desperately hoped for Estellaโ€™s acceptance to unite the families, but felt helpless.

Upstairs, Aubree seethed, replaying Estellaโ€™s rejection. That little girl used to be mute; I could have intimidated her. But now, she might tell Lucian. The Pearson family could crumble, let alone my position as Mrs. Farwell. I have to make that little girl happy.

Gritting her teeth, she called Frieda.

โ€œAubree, whatโ€™s wrong?โ€ Frieda answered promptly.

โ€œDo you know any psychologists? I need one.โ€

Frieda was puzzled. โ€œWhat happened? Why a psychologist?โ€

Aubreeโ€™s irritation flared. โ€œItโ€™s none of your business. Just find me a psychologist!โ€
