Chapter 1108: Am His Fiancรฉe
โFinish your meal, Estella. Ms. Pearson will take you to kindergarten later.โ Lucian retracted his gaze without giving her a chance to respond.
Though puzzled, Estella didnโt dare question his scowl and ate her breakfast obediently. She was running late by the time she finished.
Aubree greeted Lucian before collecting Estella. He watched them go, then called, โWait a minute.โ
Aubree stopped abruptly, her heart clenching. Lucian isnโt having second thoughts, is he? Despite her apprehension, she maintained a cheerful smile. โIs there anything else, Lucian?โ
Estella, hand in hand with Aubree, looked up at her father, believing he'd changed his mind. Lucian hesitated, then relaxed, seemingly reaching a decision.
โDonโt resist your teacher or classmates like last time, Essie. Iโll be in touch with your teacher to check on you.โ
The child puffed her cheeks. โI understand.โ
Aubree breathed a secret sigh of relief, her smile genuine. โIโll speak to her teacher. Anything else? If not, Iโm leaving with Essie; sheโs late.โ
Lucian nodded indifferently. Aubree smiled and led Estella away.
In the car, Estella sat warily, lips pursed, silent. Aubree attempted conversation. โDo you remember what your new teacher looks like, Essie? I havenโt met her.โ
Estella nodded quietly. Aubree was pleasantly surprised. โDo you have any friends in your new class?โ
Estella shook her head. Only the two boys were on her mind; she hadnโt noticed the others. The other students must think Iโm a weirdo. Thatโs fine. I donโt plan to stay long, anyway. Iโll be back with the boys when Daddy and Mommy get back together!
Aubree continued to engage Estella, who, uncharacteristically, responded. Aubree was in a splendid mood.
At the kindergarten entrance, Aubree was about to ask Estella to identify her teacher when the teacher recognized her.
โYouโre here, Essie!โ The teacher approached, greeted Estella, then turned to Aubree. โAnd you are?โ
Aubree smiled and inclined her head. โHello, I am Lucianโs fiancรฉe, Aubree.โ
The teacherโs position at the prestigious institution spoke to her qualifications. The marriage between the Farwell and Pearson families was well-known in Horington. The kindergarten teachers would naturally know. The teacher understood Aubreeโs unspoken implication: she was Estellaโs future mother. Her attitude became more respectful. โHello, Ms. Pearson. I am Pamela Yaxley. Please call me Ms. Yaxley.โ
