Chapter 1123

Hearing her mother mention Roxanne, Aubree felt a surge of irritation. "Is she even worth mentioning?"

Lucian's decision to formally meet her parents meant they were on the verge of marriage. From Aubree's perspective, regret was not an option for Lucian. However, this wasn't enough to alleviate Gina's worries.

"In any case," Gina said, "Roxanne is still Estella's biological mother. What if Lucian regrets this? There's nothing we can do if he chooses to break his word."

Aubree's heart sank. I've come this far, and I won't allow Lucian to regret this again!

Her concern didn't go unnoticed. Gina said softly, "If you don't want Lucian to go back on his word, you must find out what happened between them. If there's a misunderstanding, we need to prevent them from clearing it up."

An icy glint flashed in Aubree's eyes. "Got it."

Mixed feelings washed over Gina as she looked at her daughter. "I hope you won't blame me for dampening your spirits. We've waited six years; we're not waiting any longer."

Aubree smiled. "I should be thanking you for reminding me."

The two spoke about Lucian for a while before Aubree returned to her room. After Cory's last blackmail attempt, he'd left Aubree a new contact numberโ€”one Lucian wouldn't find.

Deep down, Aubree remained hesitant. However, her mother's words left her no choice but to take the risk. She gritted her teeth and dialed the number.

The person answered almost immediately. "Ms. Pearson, may I help you?" Cory's lazy voice filled the phone.
