Chapter 1125

Cory was in a good mood, having once again made a fortune. โ€œOf course, Ms. Pearson,โ€ he said. โ€œI presume you believe in my capabilities. Tell me, what do you want me to investigate?โ€

Aubree narrowed her eyes. โ€œInvestigate what happened between Roxanne and Lucian!โ€

Cory chuckled.

โ€œWhy are you laughing?โ€ Aubree asked coldly.

Seeming oblivious to her anger, Cory muttered, โ€œSince you agreed to my price so readily, I have something to show you.โ€ He pulled a phone from his bag and began typing.

Aubree soon received several messages. โ€œI believe what youโ€™re about to see wonโ€™t disappoint you, Ms. Pearson,โ€ Cory said confidently.

Aubree furrowed her brows, opening the messages. Over ten pictures, each timestamped, showed Roxanne and Jack together recently, meeting almost daily and appearing intimate.

Aubree hesitated. โ€œWhat does this mean? Are you suggesting Jack caused Lucian and Roxanneโ€™s separation?โ€

Coryโ€™s tone was mischievous. โ€œCome to think of it, itโ€™s rather amusing. The Farwell princess stayed overnight at Ms. Jarvisโ€™s house. Mr. Damaris arrived the next morning, followed by Mr. Farwell in the afternoon. He then left with his daughter and never returned.โ€ He implied a correlation between the events based on their timing.

Aubree remained doubtful. Roxanne and Jackโ€™s frequent meetings werenโ€™t new; sheโ€™d previously told Lucian, whoโ€™d been angry but hadnโ€™t ended things with Roxanne. Yet, she couldn't think of another reason for their separation, leaving her puzzled.

After a moment, Aubree broke the silence. โ€œIt canโ€™t be this simple. Continue investigating why Lucian and Roxanne separated; otherwise, you wonโ€™t receive a penny!โ€

Coryโ€™s tone turned cold. โ€œMs. Pearson, are you threatening me?โ€

Aubree, momentarily flustered, quickly recovered. โ€œMy apologies. I shouldnโ€™t have said that. Iโ€™m counting on you.โ€

Cory scoffed, satisfied. โ€œThatโ€™s better. Remember, this isnโ€™t a simple employer-employee relationship.โ€ He hung up before she could reply.

Aubree stared at her darkened phone screen, a cloud of displeasure on her face. I swear I wonโ€™t show Cory any mercy once Iโ€™m Mrs. Farwell, she thought.

Remembering something, she reviewed the pictures. A cold glint flashed in her eyes as she studied Roxanne and Jackโ€™s interactions. Regardless of the reason for Lucian and Roxanne's separation, Roxanneโ€™s relationship with Jack was exploitable. It would be even better if she could make something happen between themโ€ฆ

For now, however, she lacked a plan and needed to consult someone.
