Chapter 1183

"Mommy..."

Knowing Roxanne was in the hospital room behind him, Benny immediately sprinted forward. Lucian, already distressed by Roxanne's condition, felt another wave of sorrow at the sight of Archie and Benny's anguish. Nonetheless, he reached out and gently restrained Benny.

Anxious to see his mother, Benny struggled. "I want to see Mommy! Mommy!" But Lucian's grip remained firm.

The specialists felt sorry for the tearful Benny. However, allowing Archie and Benny to rush in risked overwhelming Roxanne, hindering her treatment.

Archie, calmer than his brother, though his eyes were red-rimmed, simply stood quietly. "What do you need me and Benny to do?" he asked.

He continued, "Mommy has likely been unconscious since before Mr. Lawson picked us up from school. Daddy asked him to keep it a secret, but now he's brought us here. He must need our help!"

Archie and Benny's devastation broke the specialists' hearts, while Archie's composure filled them with awe. A fleeting, strange look crossed Lucian's face, but he quickly composed himself.

"Do you remember the play we staged?" he began.

Archie nodded.

Lucian stroked the boy's head. "Your mommy is Sleeping Beauty," he said in a deep voice. "She's merely asleep, and needs you two to wake her up. Don't cry. Talk to her."

Sniffling, Archie nodded. "Understood." He took his brother's hand. Benny, initially bawling, slowly quieted, though tears continued to flow.

"Can we go in now?" Archie asked the adults.

The specialists nodded, making way. Lucian led the boys into the room. They rushed to Roxanne's bedside.

"Mommy!"

At the sight of Roxanne's sleeping face, Benny's tears flowed anew. Archie, too, succumbed to his emotions. Lucian waited a few seconds before entering.

"Be good, and don't cry," he said. "Talk to your mommy. She must want to hear your voices."

Through their tears, Archie and Benny nodded. Lucian looked at Roxanne. "Archie and Benny are here. Hurry up and wake up," he said, then gazed solemnly at the boys before retreating to a corner.

Archie and Benny clutched Roxanne's warm hand, noticing it felt as though someone had been holding it. They had no time to dwell on it, however. In small voices, they spoke to their mother.

"We're worried sick about you, Mommy. Please don't sleep anymore. We're scared..."

"Hurry up and wake up, Mommy. We'll behave and listen to you. We'll never make you mad again..."

Their voices choked with tears. Even Lucian found it unbearable. But Roxanne's eyes remained closed.
