Chapter 1187

Cayden's heart ached at the news. Meanwhile, Estella watched him expectantly through the rearview mirror. He gulped, forcing a smile. "Ms. Jarvis is with Mr. Farwell. You'll see her later."

Estella's eyes lit up immediately. Cayden felt her happiness without turning, but his own heart sank at the thought of what she was about to see.

Shortly after, the car stopped in front of the hospital. Estella had fallen silent some time ago, clearly noticing their destination. Cayden, too, moved stiffly as he said, "We're here, Ms. Estella. Come on. I'll take you in." He reached out to help her.

Estella hopped out of the backseat and rushed into the hospital. Cayden quickly closed the door and hurried after her. In the elevator, he noticed her reddened eyes. Feeling sorry for her, he looked away, unable to bear her gaze.

Thankfully, they reached the top floor quickly. The elevator doors opened, and Estella rushed out, throwing herself at Lucian, who was waiting. Worried throughout the journey, she choked back tears as she spoke. "Daddy! Where's Ms. Jarvis? I want to see her!"

Lucian looked solemnly at Cayden, who appeared helpless. After a moment, Lucian retracted his gaze, patting Estella's head. "She's asleep. Why don't you go wake her up?" He lifted her into his arms and walked toward the ward. "When you go in, try to talk to Ms. Jarvis more, okay?"

Estella nodded, sobbing. Seeing the boys' distress, her tears flowed freely. Lucian's heart ached at her sobs, but he remained composed, carrying her into the ward.

"Ms. Jarvis..." Estella wriggled free and ran to Roxanne. "Ms. Jarvis, what's wrong with you? Please wake up. I miss you so much... Don't frighten me, please. I promise to be a good girl and not make you angry anymore..."

Benny gently shook his mother's hand. "Mommy, Essie's here. Please wake up and look at her." Archie sobbed silently beside them. After a while, noticing Roxanne remained unconscious, he bit his lip, approaching Lucian. "Mr. Farwell, can we really wake Mommy up?"

They had spoken to Roxanne for a long time. Even Essie had arrived, yet Roxanne showed no signs of waking. Archie's doubt was palpable. Lucian glanced at the still woman, then at the heartbroken boy, unable to answer. He had spoken to Roxanne even before the children arrived; his own doubts surpassed theirs, yet he couldn't voice them. It was the children's only hope, and he couldn't bear to shatter it. He didn't know how they would react to discovering his own uncertainty.
