Chapter 1188

Suddenly, the door opened from the outside. Lucian, his blood burning with unvented anger, turned to scold the intruder, but the specialists' anxious faces stopped him.

โ€œHurry! Ms. Jarvisโ€™ brainwaves show signs of waking!โ€

The room fell silent, then Archie reacted first. He tugged Roxanneโ€™s hand, crying, โ€œMommy! Mommy, wake up!โ€ Benny followed suit. Estella, initially frozen beside Lucian, frantically wiped her tears and hugged Roxanneโ€™s arm. โ€œMs. Jarvisโ€ฆโ€ she called, then, as if echoing the boys, her voice softened, โ€œMommyโ€ฆ Wake up, pleaseโ€ฆโ€

The ward filled with the childrenโ€™s cries. Lucianโ€™s eyes trembled at Estellaโ€™s change in address, but he remained silent, watching Roxanne. Perhaps she would wake; the specialists said so. Though sheโ€™d been unconscious only half a day, it felt like an eternity. He realized, then, how important she was to him. โ€œRoxanne, wake up, please,โ€ he murmured softly.

A specialist exclaimed, โ€œHer eyes are moving! Ms. Jarvisโ€™ eyes are moving!โ€ The children cried out again. โ€œMommyโ€ฆ Mommyโ€ฆโ€

Meanwhile, Roxanne felt trapped in a dream. Initially, it was dark, silent, and her calls for help went unanswered. Then, she heard murmuring, faint at first, until the word โ€œMommyโ€ vibrated against her eardrums. She recognized Archie and Bennyโ€™s voices. They're here to save me! I have to wake up!

Roxanne struggled to open her eyes, but exhaustion set in. Helplessly, she scanned the darkness, her heart aching for the boys. I'm sorry, Archie and Benny. I want to wake up, butโ€ฆ I can't.

Then, a sweet voice, gentle as a whisper, reached her. Light flooded her vision. It was the voice of the child she believed lostโ€”the child sheโ€™d constantly thought of. โ€œMommy, stop sleeping!โ€

A little girl, in a pretty skirt, appeared, her face blurry but her crying evident. She took Roxanneโ€™s hand, leading her through the darkness toward a glowing door. The girl gently pushed Roxanne, urging her forward, but Roxanne hesitated. She had finally seen the child and couldn't bear to leave her.
