Chapter 1193

As she listened to the children showering Lucian with compliments, Roxanne felt another surge of emotion, despite having recently regained her composure. The specialists had said the same thing when examining her. Sheโ€™d been speechless, forced to cut them short. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined the children would mention it again, minutes later, this time within Lucian's earshot as he stood at the door. She had no choice but to face him.

With that thought, Roxanne forced herself to meet the man's gaze. "Thank you, Mr. Farwell. I'm sorry for causing trouble again today."

Roxanne expected Lucian to tease her, or dismiss the situation. Instead, his face was devoid of expression as he nodded, saying darkly, "Yes, you've caused me a great deal of trouble."

Roxanne was taken aback, momentarily speechless. Even the children were surprised. "We finally created a chance for Daddy to make up with Mommy. Why does Daddy seem upset?" Estella ran to Lucian, tugging anxiously at his clothes.

Lucian, unfazed, strode to Roxanne's bed. His expressionless, dark gaze sent a chill down her spine. He revealed slowly, "I was in an important meeting when I received the news. I couldn't believe my eyes when Cayden showed me his phone. Ms. Jarvis, don't you pride yourself on being an exceptional traditional medicine doctor? Why couldn't you take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety during the experiment?"

Roxanne hung her head, lips twitching. She was speechless. She had been careless.

"Even if you don't consider your own safety, you should think of Archie and Benny. They've lost their father. Do you think they can handle losing their mother as well?" Lucian chided sharply.

Estella protested, "Daddy, stop it! Ms. Jarvis is still sick!"

Lucian's surprise was evident as he realized his own emotional outburst. I was too upset that Roxanne didnโ€™t take her safety seriously.

"Mr. Farwell, I understand your concern," Roxanne said, biting her lip. She met his gaze. "I acted carelessly. Please accept my apology for worrying you and the children. It won't happen again."

She knew Lucian well. In six years, even after her return, he'd never lost his composure. Considering the specialists' description, she imagined his worry after her mishap.

Her apology caused Lucian to furrow his brows in shock. Previously, such a conversation would have ended badly. But Roxanne's understanding of his feelings surprised him. He wondered if he was hearing things.

Estella quickly chimed in, "Daddy was really worried about you. Look, his eyes are bloodshot. Ms. Jarvis, please stop being upset with him?" She sprawled beside Roxanne, pouting pitifully.
