Chapter 1201

Fearing Lucian might notice her distress, Aubree kept her back turned as she spoke. Even so, she felt his stern gaze. After a moment, he said, โ€œGo home.โ€

Aubree inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. Turning, she smiled. โ€œAll right. I shall go home first. Take good care of Ms. Jarvis. Call me if you need anything.โ€

Lucian merely nodded. The elevator arrived. Aubree bid him farewell and stepped inside.

As the doors closed, her smile vanished. By the time the elevator began its descent, her expression was grim. Roxanne was awake! And Lucian was staying overnight to care for her, even bringing Essie! He hadn't shown me that much concern when I broke my arm protecting Sonya. It seems he and Essie are still devoted to that woman! How foolish I was to treat that little wretch with love and respect. In the end, she still matters more to him!

Rage consumed Aubree as she replayed Lucian and his daughter's actions in her mind. I've wasted my time! This is all Roxanne's fault! That woman! I must find a way to get rid of her permanently!

A vicious look hardened her features. The elevator reached the ground floor. As she exited, she collided with Cory.

Their eyes met, and Aubree's hostility intensified. Cory raised an eyebrow in surprise.

โ€œHow dare you show up?โ€ Aubree roared.

Cory shrugged, glancing around. โ€œThatโ€™s irrelevant. You seem to have something to say, Ms. Pearson. This isnโ€™t the place.โ€

Before Aubree could respond, he turned and walked toward a quieter area. She gritted her teeth and followed.

Cory remained cautious, maintaining a distance. They stopped outside a restroom. Aubree's face darkened at the sight of Cory waiting inside the men's room.

He waited silently. After a while, Aubree clenched her jaw and entered. โ€œWhat do you want?โ€ she demanded.

Cory placed a cleaning sign on the door before turning. โ€œWhat do I want? Shouldn't I be asking that, Ms. Pearson?โ€

Aubree frowned, fury etched on her face. โ€œI called! Why didnโ€™t you answer?โ€

โ€œMy phone died. I didn't expect such haste, Ms. Pearson. You already know about Roxanne's condition, don't you?โ€ Cory raised his eyebrows.

Aubree's expression fell at the mention of Roxanne. โ€œSheโ€™s awake!โ€

Surprise flickered in Cory's eyes. โ€œI should have guessed,โ€ he murmured.

โ€œI need another favor!โ€ Hostility flared in Aubree's gaze.

Cory grew anxious at her expression. โ€œWhat do you want me to do?โ€ he asked warily.
