Chapter 1215

It was Lucian’s second time hearing Estella address Roxanne in that manner in a single night. Seeing the girl’s timid expression, he frowned but remained silent. When Estella realized her father wasn't reprimanding her, her eyes lit up, and she turned to Archie and Benny, a delighted smile on her face. Had Roxanne been awake, the children would have cheered.

Lucian’s eyes registered their happiness, though he didn't question it. He simply said, “It’s getting late; hurry back to sleep.” Assured of Roxanne’s well-being and buoyed by this unexpected development, the children readily agreed and followed Lucian out of the ward.

After returning the children to the next-door ward, Lucian’s heart skipped a beat as he observed their gaze. He thought he understood their joy.

“Daddy.” Estella, closest to him, reached for the hem of his shirt.

Lucian stopped and crouched, meeting her eyes. Tilting her head, Estella hesitantly asked, “Daddy, are you on good terms with Ms. Jarvis again? You didn’t say anything when I called Ms. Jarvis ‘Mommy’!” To her, his silence was tacit approval. Archie and Benny also looked at Lucian with hopeful eyes.

Lucian ruffled her hair. “This isn’t something I can decide alone. We have to wait until Ms. Jarvis recovers before asking her opinion.”

Their eyes dimmed at his ambiguous answer. Their disappointment brought a frown to Lucian’s face. He swore, “But before Ms. Jarvis fully recovers, I’ll be taking care of her. So don’t worry; take good care of yourselves.”

He was promising to reconcile with Roxanne. While not the answer they wanted, it was better than nothing. They nodded fervently. “Got it!”

Lucian ruffled their hair. “Get some rest. I’m going to take care of Ms. Jarvis now.” Seeing them nod, he stood and left. They watched the door close, anticipation etched on their faces.

“We have to convince Mommy to forgive Mr. Farwell as soon as possible!” Benny declared, clenching his fist. Archie nodded. The incident had solidified their belief that Lucian liked Roxanne, though she seemed unaware. They needed to help their mother see her heart's desire. They turned to Estella, awaiting her input.

Her eyes shone; she bobbed her head vigorously. “I’ll keep an eye on Daddy and make sure he doesn’t make Ms. Jarvis angry!” They smiled at each other.

It being late, the children climbed into bed. As Archie and Benny fell asleep, they heard Estella crying. “Mommy...”

The boys sat up, rushing to her bedside. “What’s wrong, Essie?” Awakening her, they saw tears on her cheeks.
