Chapter 1214

Jonathan interjected, "Mr. Damaris, I understand your concern for Ms. Jarvis, but it's very late. Perhaps you could visit another day?"

Jack frowned, sensing something amiss in their responses. "I'm heading back as well. If you don't mind, let's go downstairs together."

Jonathan put an arm around Jack's shoulders and guided him quietly toward the elevator. "My grandfather mentioned wanting to meet your grandfather. Perhaps we could discuss scheduling a visit?"

The children were present, and despite his unease, Jack couldn't openly display his displeasure. He followed Jonathan into the elevator.

Jonathan exchanged a look with Lucian before pressing the close button. Only as the elevator descended did Jack fully grasp the incongruity. They were all dismissing his visit to Roxanne as too late, yet Lucian remained in her ward. What right did he have?

"Mr. Damaris," Jonathan said, giving Jack a long, assessing look, "it's best not to interfere in another couple's relationship, wouldn't you agree? You're the Damaris heir. What kind of woman can you not obtain that you must take this one from Lucian?"

Jack reacted with an apathetic stare. "What do you know?"

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "If this isn't what I suspect, then all the better."

Silence fell between them. Even upon reaching the ground floor, they parted ways without another word, each driving off in their own car.

Meanwhile, outside Roxanne's ward, the children relaxed their guard once Jack was gone.

"Mr. Farwell, can we see Mommy?" Archie's worry was evident. It was their first time seeing their mother so ill. Despite seeing Roxanne awake earlier, anxiety lingered.

Lucian's expression softened. "Go ahead. Mommy's resting, so be quiet and don't wake her, okay?"

The children nodded, lining up and tiptoeing into the room. Roxanne lay in a deep sleep, appearing almost comatose. The children panicked.

Before they could speak, Lucian reassured them, knowing their thoughts, "Don't worry. She's just asleep. She'll wake up tomorrow morning."

The children stared at him before finally accepting his words.

"Good night, Mommy," Benny whispered, giving Roxanne a peck on the cheek. They were returning the goodnight kisses she usually gave them.

Archie followed suit, whispering, "Mommy, you have to wake up tomorrow morning, okay?"

Estella, last in line, hesitated. She looked to her brothers for encouragement before gently kissing Roxanne's cheek. "Ms. Jโ€”" she began, then softly finished, "Good night, Mommy." She looked to her father, seeking his reaction.
