Chapter 1221

After a long pause, Lucian subdued the emotion in his eyes and said calmly, "I've asked the specialists to check on you. They'll be here soon."

No sooner had he spoken than several specialists rushed in. Horrified at the sight of Roxanne sitting up in bed, they exclaimed, "Ms. Jarvis, please lie down immediately. Residual toxins remain in your system; we need to perform a check-up and prescribe targeted medication."

Clear-headed, she replied, "That's unnecessary. It's been cleared."

The specialists frowned, disbelief etched on their faces. "How is that possible? We witnessed the severity of your condition yesterday. How could you recover in a single night?"

Roxanne smiled enigmatically, offering no explanation. Several specialists, utterly incredulous, examined her. Their astonishment was palpable. "This..." they murmured, unable to believe her near-complete recovery; barely any toxins remained.

She calmly explained, "I performed acupuncture this morning to detoxify my body. I've eliminated almost all the toxins, though I don't know if the remainder will have significant effects."

The specialists exchanged glances. After a moment, one turned to Roxanne with admiration. "We've heard of your impressive acupuncture skills, but today we've witnessed their remarkable effectiveness firsthand!"

They had planned to treat the toxins slowly with medication, never expecting her to eliminate most of them with a single acupuncture treatment.

Despite their praise, Roxanne's expression remained unchanged. "My teacher taught me everything I know; I merely applied what I've learned. So, what are the results? Do I still need treatment?"

"The remaining toxins are minimal, and your body can eliminate them naturally," the lead specialist answered. He hesitated, a sudden shiver running through him as he sensed annoyance from behind. He quickly added, "Nonetheless, I suggest a couple of days observation. Your condition yesterday was quite serious."

She nodded calmly. "Understood. Thank you all for yesterday."

The specialists waved dismissively. "It was our duty. If anyone deserves thanks, it's Mr. Farwell. He stayed by your side the entire time."

She subconsciously glanced at Lucian, standing in the doorway. His brow was furrowed, worry etched on his face. Their eyes met, and he quickly looked away.

Surprised by his concern, a blush crept onto her cheeks.

"If there's nothing else, we'll leave. Please rest. Let us know if you need anything," the specialists said, noticing the charged atmosphere between the pair and excusing themselves hastily.

Composing herself, Roxanne watched them leave. She and Lucian were alone. Though she'd regained her composure, the specialist's remark had stirred her emotions. She was at a loss for words. Lucian, too, seemed lost in thought, remaining silent for a long time.

To mask her inner panic, she picked up her phone, noticing nearly twenty missed calls. Over half were from Archie and Benny; the rest were from Jack.
