Chapter 1280

The weekend arrived. Roxanne awoke to the sound of her children knocking at her door. Opening it, she saw three excitedly dressed little ones. Still half-asleep, she was puzzled by their eagerness.

"Mommy, we're going to the amusement park!" Benny announced, noticing her confusion.

Roxanne finally snapped out of her daze. "What time is it?" she asked, slightly frustrated with her own grogginess.

Benny checked his smartwatch. "It's already seven! Mr. Farwell said he'll be here soon!"

Roxanne glanced at her nightgown. "I'm going to wash up. Can you two prepare breakfast?" she instructed Archie and Benny.

"Mr. Farwell's taking us!" the boys chirped.

Roxanne was speechless for a moment before hurrying to her room. Perhaps because Lucian had called it a date, she spent a long time applying makeup, ultimately opting for a light look. She chose a comfortable lace blouse and faded jeans.

Downstairs, Lucian and the children were already settled on the couch, discussing the day's plans.

"Cream puffs! I want cream puffs!" Benny exclaimed happily, his words reaching Roxanne as she descended the stairs. My son is indeed a glutton, she mused.

Estella's sweet voice cut through her thoughts. "Ms. Jarvis!"

Everyone turned. Roxanne stiffened, instinctively glancing at Lucian.

"Hey, gorgeous," he said, his gaze intense.

A blush warmed Roxanne's cheeks. She noticed his hair, not slicked back as usual, but with loose strands framing his forehead, giving him a more youthful appearance. He wore a dark green windbreakerโ€”casual yet elegant. Unaccustomed to seeing him so relaxed, she paused, lost in thought.

"How do I look?" he asked.

Noticing her appraisal, Lucian rose and moved toward her, giving her a full view. As they reached eye level at the bottom of the stairs, their eyes met, and Roxanne, realizing her scrutiny, blushed and looked away.

Lucian, determined for a response, remained at the bottom of the stairs, smiling.

Roxanne lowered her eyes. "You haven't changed much," she murmured. He was still as mesmerizing as he was six years ago.

Lucian's eyes softened. "My looks might not have changed, but I have in other ways you can't see," he said ambiguously, taking her hand in front of the children.

Emotion surged through Roxanne, but before she could react, his grip tightened. Self-conscious of the children, she tried to pull away, but his hold was firm.
