Chapter 1305
Gina panicked at her daughter's demeanor, instinctively turning to Samuel. He remained relatively calm, but a grimace twisted his features. "What did you do?"
Aubree lowered her gaze guiltily, her eyelids twitching. Even then, she sought to minimize her actions. After a moment's contemplation, she whispered warily, "I...contaminated the water Essie drank with bacteria."
Samuel and Gina's faces darkened. They knew Aubree despised Estella and mistreated her, but Lucian's unawareness had allowed them to ignore her misconduct. Aubree's foolishness, however, knew no bounds.
Noticing their changed moods, Aubree quickly added, "I didn't do it on purpose. I was trying to teach Roxanne a lesson. I wanted them to be infected, but I didn't expect Essie's cup to be nearby. I got carried away."
Before she finished, Samuel slapped her. "You fool!"
Aubree covered her face, silent for a long while. Samuel panted, regaining his composure before asking, "Is that all?"
Aubree's eyes flickered. "I did the same thing to Essie before, but Lucian doesn't know I'm the culprit. He has no evidence!"
Samuel bellowed, "Aren't you aware of Lucian's capabilities? He'll find out everything once you've exposed yourself!"
Aubree grew agitated. "What should we do? Lucian cares deeply about Essie. He'll never forgive me if he knows I tried to harm her. Moreover, I set Roxanne up multiple times. Considering our current relationship, he'll undoubtedly make my life a living hell." Hysterically, she grasped her mother's clothing. "Mom, you have to save me. I was wrong!"
Gina felt weak. She understood her daughter better than anyone, knowing Aubree had likely committed more wrongdoings. However, harming Estella alone was enough to incite Lucian's wrath upon the Pearson family. She looked to Samuel for a solution.
"You fool! I can't believe I bore such a senseless daughter!" Samuel paced anxiously before stopping and instructing Gina, "Contact Sonya. She's our only hope of speaking to Lucian."
Deeply shaken, Gina obeyed blindly. As she dialed Sonya's number, Aubree's phone rang. All three looked at the cracked screen, the caller ID clearly visible: Lucian.
Aubree shuddered, frantically tossing the phone aside. "Lucian's calling to settle the score! We can't answer it. We mustn'tโฆ"
"Do you think he'll be less capable of dealing with you if you don't answer?" Samuel roared.
Terrified, Aubree answered with trembling hands. Lucian's voice was cold and unemotional. "I'll be waiting for you at the Farwell residence at two o'clock." He hung up.
