Chapter 1314
His methods? The Pearsons exchanged nervous glances, a terrible fear seizing their hearts. Lucian's grim voice summoned Cayden. Just as he was about to give his orders, Roxanne's voice cut through the air.
"Lucian, forget it," she said, still hugging Estella tightly, her hatred momentarily suppressed. "Let the police handle this. I have the report on the bacteria she used; the dosage was lethal for children. She'll spend the rest of her life in prison for attempted murder."
Roxanne couldn't quell the festering hatred at the thought of Aubree nearly murdering the children. Even so, she reasoned that Aubree's outrageous actions didn't warrant sullying Lucian's hands.
Lucian frowned, silent a moment before ordering Cayden, "Contact the lawyer and instruct him to send Ms. Pearson to prison as soon as possible."
Cayden was relieved. "All right."
Aubree's eyes darted around wildly at Roxanne's words. "Life in prison? No! I don't want that! You bitch! I won't let you off even if I die! Just wait! I'll make you join me in hell!"
A malicious grin twisted her face, transforming her into a devil escaped from the abyss. Unfazed, Roxanne simply covered Archie and Benny's eyes. Lucian's fury intensified.
Samuel rushed to Aubree, finally subduing her with considerable effort. He then signaled to Gina for assistance. Gina quickly moved to cover Aubree's mouth, but Aubree, seemingly frenzied, bit her hand. Gina, however, didn't flinch.
"It's our fault for not raising her properly," Samuel pleaded earnestly with the Farwells. "Aubree's still young. We promise to keep a strict eye on her and prevent her from contacting Ms. Jarvis and the children. Please, give her a chance!"
Sonya, having known them for years and watched Aubree grow up, had only intended to teach her a lesson and sever ties. She never anticipated such severe consequences. Seeing the pathetic trio, her resolve wavered.
Lucian, however, cut her short. His eyes narrowed. "Should I escort all three of you out?"
Samuel remained silent. He and Gina carried Aubree away, fleeing the scene.
The mansion fell silent once the Pearsons departed, the only sound Estella's sobs. Roxanne, heartbroken, patted Estella's back. "Don't be scared, Essie. The evil lady's gone. Don't cry, okay?"
Archie and Benny then emerged from their daze, surrounding Roxanne and Estella.
"Don't cry, Essie. Mr. Farwell taught that evil lady a lesson," said Archie.
"She won't be back. No one will bully you again. Mommy, Benny, and I will protect you from now on!" Benny added, echoing his brother's reassurance.
Estella, hearing Aubree was gone, stopped crying and peeked out from Roxanne's arms. Sonya approached, offering a hug. "Come here, Essie. Let me hug you."
